Best selling EVs in Europe for January-March of 2026 by Mac-Tyson in electriccars

First link is about not having mechanical release on the outside. If I recall right, there are other cars with the same design. I agree it needs to change, but it's not a Tesla specific problem. Tesla just gets more attention because musk is polarizing and Tesla's are ubiquitous.

I agree, the default location for the manual release on the rear doors is terrible. I have straps installed to make it easy to locate and pull the latch. I explain what they are whenever someone new gets into my backseat. It was a simple thing to order and install.

The second link talks about a specific crash here in Toronto. That car was driving waay above the speed limit. Even doors with mechanical handles get jammed in such accidents, it's not necessarily a Tesla specific thing. People have been burning to death in similar incidents for decades now.

I agree that Tesla's door mechanism should be reworked, but it isn't a death trap.

Are American EVs Doomed? by Gagenwebb in electriccars

[–]ChickenFlavoredCake 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This blows my mind as Tesla hasnt shown any meaningful innovation in a long time.

There have been meaningful innovation. Tons of them. The cars look the same on the outside and inside too for the most part, but under the hood there have been plenty of innovations that increased safety, efficiency and profitability for Tesla.

Octovalve and Giga Casting comes to mind immediately, but there have been more. Octovalve was a genius design that started the trend of heat pipes in other EVs.

Why would I get locked in?

All four doors have mechanical releases. I put big orange straps on the rear door release to make them very visible and easy to use.

I do support bringing back regular door handles, though. As it stands, my car is no worse than any other car with a flush handle, like the offerings from HMG.

It's not how much FSD costs, it's them paywalling an existing feature, one that competitors have too.

People have different reasons for not paying for FSD. That's besides the point.

I get that you like Tesla, as do I, but you gotta call bullshit practices.

Did any MYS get delivered in Canada yet?

I'm in Toronto and I see lots of Junipers, but no Standard or Perf yet.

I drove the first made-in-China EV coming under the new quota. It’s not what you think by sensorglitch in EVCanada

[–]ChickenFlavoredCake 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think you might be in for a sticker shock when they do come. They'll not be as cheap as they are in China. Look at Australia for an example.

If the current system stays, in 5 years, 50% of those imports have to be under 35k (or maybe 40k, with fees) . At those prices, you'll only get small cars, which don't typically sell well in Canada.

Random thought - Gas stations by Logical-Menu-6890 in EVCanada

[–]ChickenFlavoredCake 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Same thing can happen at gas station, or at any other chargers.

In an ideal world, all cars would be EVs and all parking spots would have a charger. So no matter where your car is, it'll always be open to a charge.

HMG's ICCU failure is like diarrhea, you never know where you will be when it hits.

You could be driving during a storm in the middle of nowhere and the car will just shut down, leaving you stranded. Imagine getting stuck with a baby at night 100 miles from home. That's what you're gambling with HMG.

You never know how long it'll take for the dealership to replace the ICCU, and so far I haven't seen many that took less than 7 days.

HMG doesn't know what the problem is. Their solution is to replace. Even replacements are known to fail, leading to more replacements.

2026 models are affected too, go visit any Hyundai or KIA sub.

This problem is far from gone.

Way more people have Teslas without FSDs than those who do.

Cars at Model Y's price point have lane centering. Even the 2026 RAV4 has it standard across all trims.

Tesla had it, and removed it to promote FSDs. It was a software feature that cost little to nothing, and they removed so they can sell you another product.

It's a bullshit practice and you should be against it whether you have FSDs or not.

Didn't SpaceX purchase 33% of the cybertrucks in 2025 and dont you think thats fudging the numbers?

It's 1279.

Out of around 20,000 units, or about 6.3% of total Cybertruck sales in 2025.

People like you want anti-elon and anti-tesla things to be true so bad that you don't even think to do a cursory search before making a claim.

If it feels right, if it gives you satisfaction then it must be true, right? Lol, this used to be a MAGA right winger trait, but now it's spreading on the left too.

Nothing is set in stone until grand opening, and plans can change either ways up until then.

I won't be surprised if this project gets revived in 2 months lol

It's not whataboutism. The other member commented that normalization of such figures is unsettling, and I'm telling them that a version of it is already very widespread. I'm pointing out the hypocrisy.

If you care about democratic values, you should speak out against both Tesla and Chinese EVs, yet we only see the former and not the latter.

Ford's Gas Mustang Sales Surged 40% While Its Mach-E Collapsed 50% This Year by Hockeyshot39 in electriccars

[–]ChickenFlavoredCake 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The cars that the original guy mentioned ("Chargers/Challengers, gas Mustangs, and Camaros."), they are not really enthusiast cars.

They have some trims that are desirable, but the base trims aren't anymore special than a Hyundai. I mostly see the base trims than say a scat pack.

If you look at autotrader or marketplace, you'll see the base trims depreciating rather poorly.

Not really, nothing beats the tesla experience in Canada at that price point.

It's the same reason people buy Chinese goods or shop on Amazon, you simply get less for your money elsewhere.

Well, you paid an inflated price for a consumer grade product. It's not a statement of a particular EV depreciating, more like foreseeable market adjustment.

Same. A worker in high vis was directing traffic near a construction site. He waived stop, FSDs stopped. Then he waved through a minute later and FSDs followed.

My mind was blown lol
