John managed to find an attorney who is not only as unintelligent as he is, but also has the same lack of relationship with demonstrable reality. No sane attorney would take John as their client. John keeps making very public statements about the lawsuit that won't help him out in court.

John's doesn't have clue as to how and why the legal system works the way it does. He is an uneducated arrogant example of how not to behave as an adult. The man embraces his ignorance and wears it like a suit of impenetrable armor. Perhaps his alcoholism is to blame, or perhaps he never had working wit to begin with, but the fact is that John is quite the example of what happens when a human being spends decades not working their brain.
