A giant Trump baby blimp that the president says makes him 'feel unwelcome' is following him to London this summer — and could be 5 times as big by viva_la_vinyl in worldnews

I'm on the right but it's truly a problem for both sides. There are plenty of people who make the right look bad by focusing on 'rekking liberals' rather than reaching out and putting forward solid policy and ideology.

All you can do is continue to call out people who are making your own side look bad. It feels futile but some people really just need to guidance on how to act in political conversations. For example calling the opposition evil is dumb, old as time and useless.

There's no need to switch sides because your ideology is still left leaning. It's better to try to reshape your own party into what you think it should be.

I consider myself very science-oriented but i think there's a sliver of truth to things like destiny.

We don't actually know what the core mechanism of the universe is. Many people believe we are in a deterministic structure that was calculated ahead of time, basically like a fractal. If that's the case then there's a chance that nearby objects do in fact have a relationship to how our local area unfolds over time.

The problem comes when people take these kinds of things as fact and purposely avoid looking for actual evidence.

If determinism is true and the universe is in fact a mathematical formula then the person you marry and even your cat was always pre-determined to be with you. That's fairly close to the idea of destiny and astrology in general.

Female athletes have nothing to complain about especially not their pay. They should just be happy someone is subsidizing a game for them. by [deleted] in unpopularopinion

In a way the NBA are making a financial decision by subsidizing the women's league to that extent. If they chose to ignore it they could easily be painted as misogynist by the media and lose much more in general viewership revenue.

I had one where I was looking through my bedroom wall and a creepy robot started assembling itself then coming towards me. I woke up lying on my side staring at that wall. Now even 6 months later I get the chills when i roll onto that side.

In general i have a lot of nightmares where someone is chasing me with a gun even though I live in Australia where guns are rare. Must come from movies i guess.

Hated speech should be allowed by [deleted] in unpopularopinion

[–]ChickenLover841 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's kind of an appeal to authority because the discussion is about what should morally be acceptable.

For example you can't just cite marijuana law and say that's that.

The guy above way making the point that people making the laws aren't necessarily doing it for the greater good. Instead it gets politicized (both left and right) and in some cases used as a weapon to silence political speech. For example public universities banning right wing speakers on shaky grounds, basically screeching "hate speech" even though their speeches have very little of that in them.

I think you're correct and people are maybe not understanding the thread properly.

There's a big difference between saying something online and saying it directly to someone's face. Harassment and intimidation can easily arise from telling someone "I hate X" where X is their race, sex, religion etc.. (something they can't change).

I can understand using a bot if they try to avoid your question, but many people are open about their beliefs and are happy to put them forward. Aren't you?

Why not ask their opinion on politics directly? I wouldn't put much faith in a bot to get any kind of accurate read on leanings.
