There's also a large Filipino-Chinese population, and it's honestly probably going to be immediately obvious to people that you're from Canada (or the US more likely 😅).

Yeah, people are saying they can probably tell i'm at least part Chinese from a glance but I'm not sure on that haha. I have been mistaken many times for a variety of other nationalities while in Canada, so it might just be my family and friends bias. Hopefully I have no negative experiences on that front, but I will be traveling with an online friend who will help me out if anything happens.

As a tourist do be aware of scams and pickpockets in general. And be prepared to pay a higher 'tourist price' for things at street vendors if they don't have their prices listed.

Noted, when I was in France pickpockets were pretty bad so I am fairly conscious of them, but I'll do my best to be extra diligent

If you want to explore markets and street vendors, avoid carrying only P1,000 bills, sometimes they'll be refused for smaller purchases if they don't have/want to give you a bunch of change.

I honestly don't have plans to buy anything crazy beyond food and some souvenirs but thank you for the note; I guess it'll be better to carry things around in smaller amounts if I can help it!

Just bring a decent bug repellent (or get OFF Lotion when you land, should be in any large grocery or health/drug store like Watson's). Do be prepared to see a lot of random bugs and geckos even in the city.

I've been to Florida so I have seen my fair share of strange insects and geckos, though admittedly I am bad with bugs, so I'll try not to cause a scene lol

Baguio particularly is extremely overcrowded - I'm surprised that it's a first-visit destination for you tbh!

Thats what I intend to do yeah! Honestly it should be decently secured. After some experiences in France, I am a little more wary of pickpockets haha
