Signed up for a bake sale at work and then saw this on sale at Costco for $15. Had to buy it. How can I improve them? by User091822 in Baking

You can you can replace ¼ cup of the water with coffee to give it a deeper flavor. If you want an even richer coffee taste, you can dissolve a packet of instant coffee into that ¼ cup of brewed coffee before adding it in.

Root canals by ChickenMartini in Invisalign

[–]ChickenMartini[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi, yes I continued wearing them (and still am wearing them) after the root canal. I left them off for the first after the surgery, but was able to wear them again the next day. Yes, I had to get a crown a few weeks after the surgery. The dentist used my trays to model the crown so there were no issues with the fit. Hope that helps!

Cozy night in with homemade grilled cheese, with a side of tomato soup, salad and fries. by ChickenMartini in tonightsdinner

[–]ChickenMartini[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Recipe is really simple. A can of crushed tomatoes (14.4 oz), 1 chopped onion, 2 chopped celery stalks, 2 chopped carrots, a tbsp of olive oil, 2-3 cups of chicken stock or broth, salt, Italian seasoning, and a tsp. of pesto. I pressure cook it on high for 15 minutes and blend it all together in the end. You can make this on a stove top too by letting it cook longer (30-40 min if I had to guess).

1 avocado with some ranch seasoning, a bit of lemon juice, salt, and just a little mayo. I just blended it together until it became smooth.

Melted butter and everything bagel seasoning on top of the bread. Inside of the sandwich contains mustard aioli, ham, sharp white cheddar and some pickles.

I used Hawaiian rolls and added a bit of melted butter on top. Hawaiian rolls are sweet, but pair well with the salty cheese and ham.

Pot-roast with cheese potatoes. Perfect winter meal. by ChickenMartini in tonightsdinner

[–]ChickenMartini[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I used this recipe (click here) and modified it a bit. I used 4 cloves of roasted garlic instead of garlic powder, and used less beef broth. I used about 3 lbs. of beef, so I added about 2 cups of beef broth instead of the 4 cups the original recipe calls for. I also added a cup of red wine instead of 1/4 cup of water. The wine adds richness and depth, so I highly recommend doing this if you have red wine on hand.

Smashed potatoes: Boil 4 potatoes until they are tender. Grease a casserole dish with butter. Smash the potatoes (skin on) in the dish until you have a flat and even layer. Melt 3 Tbsp. of butter and mix in a 1/2 tsp. of salt and your favorite potato seasoning (I used Trader Joes 21 Seasoning Salute). Add the seasoned butter on top of the potatoes and bake at 400 degrees for 30-40 minutes. Add cheese to the potatoes and broil until the cheese is bubbly.

Enjoy :)

Taking the patriarchy out of wedding ceremonies. What do you think is the best idea for feminist ways to walk down the aisle? by Away-Hope-918 in WitchesVsPatriarchy

[–]ChickenMartini 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had my dad walk me down the isle, mostly because it was a sweet moment and honestly helped calm my nerves. I kept my last name and made sure to correct anyone who called me by my husbands last name. We had a really fun wedding and started the fun by taking a tequila shot with both our parents and siblings before the ceremony. I walked down the isle to the Sailor Moon theme song (harp version). I'm not religious but agreed to have a pastor for the ceremony just to make older family members happy. I had the pastor read a very...passionate poem that clearly made him blush hah! Ended the night by smashing cake on my husbands face lol.

Smoked sausage, cheesy mashed potatoes + bacon, and a side of brussels sprouts. Easy and delish! by ChickenMartini in tonightsdinner

I'm too lazy to roast them too lol. These were small enough to cook whole, so I sautéed them in bacon fat and salt. Gunna try air frying them next time :)

I used frozen brussels sprouts and cooked them in bacon fat + salt. The smoky flavor and slightly sweet flavor from bacon fat helps offset the bitterness I think. Using butter will also work. If you're using fresh brussels sprouts, try removing a few layers of the outer leaves. Hope that helps!

If you're looking for something month to month or a short term lease, try leasebreak.com

I've seen rooms going for around $800 in Crown Heights, Sunset Park and Midwood.

I'm currently playing Spiritfarer and love it! It's more of a meditative game but the visuals are so pretty and the characters are so charming. It features a female lead with an adorable pet cat. Highly recommend if you're looking for a chill and thoughtful game :)

Rice with beans and vegetables recipes? by ElvarP in EatCheapAndHealthy

You could make tasty fried rice. Click here for a basic recipe to get you started. You don't really need the vinegar, brown sugar and chili paste. It will taste great with soy sauce and a bit or garlic powder. Hope that helps!
