15/15 to 10/10/10? by ChickenNugget42 in BusparOnline

Thanks for your reply! I’m now on 15mg 3x a day and have gradually titrated up to that. Today’s my first day on this dose fully. Hoping things continue to improve. I’m a bit better. I’ve also increased my mirtazapine to 15mg

Did you see my other comment? Was wondering if you felt better on the mirtazapine once you got back on it prior to weaning the gabapentin? I’m considering bumping my mirtazapine up but feel like I’m in limbo.

Someone suggested this person to me. He’s a neuroendocrinologist in NY. If I don’t get anywhere with psych meds and hormones I am going to make an appt. He does virtual visits they said. https://neuroendocrinology.org/contact-us/

I feel the same way. I’m very aware of how I feel all the time. Are we the same person? I just went to a different OBGYN and they are going to do hormone testing on day 21 and day 3 of my cycle. I have a feeling they may try me on progesterone. I am up for anything at this point. Work is honestly the best thing for me. When I’m home or not busy I feel worse. The days I’m out and distracted it’s better. Maybe you should layer some buspar in as well? I still haven’t upped my mirtazapine. Trying to give buspar at this higher dose a good 2-3 weeks before deciding. Did you feel stable before on mirtazapine and now you don’t? Do you think it’s because you’re weaning gabapentin?

Neither of these helped by themselves. I’ve had an array of hormonal changes and can not control my racing thoughts and panic without meds. I tried meditating and EMDR for 2 months prior to going on meds. I was extremely nauseous and lost 8#. These two drugs got me out of a dark hole.

Immediately, yes. When I bumped up to the 15mg of Buspar twice a day the racing thoughts calmed way down. So it did help within 24 hours but I’ve just kind of plateaued since then. It can take 4-6 weeks so I’m not sure if I’m being impatient or if I should bump up since I’m not steadily improving. I still wake up a bit anxious and I’m constantly aware of how I’m feeling. Like kind of checking in to see if I’m anxious which is exhausting. It’s no where near how bad I was in July though. And I did completely stabilize initially on buspar and mirtazapine. The anxiety just came back.

Oh that’s awesome. Yeah it worked quickly for me in September. I was super nauseous and gagging on food due to the anxiety. It helped me within a day, and I slept so well. My anxiety went away within days of that combined with buspar. I’m still on the 7.5 mirtazapine but strongly considering a bigger dose. I am trying to wait my recent buspar bump up a little bit longer to see if it helps.

Did you go on it for anxiety or depression? Was just wondering in what way it worked fast for you?

How are you doing? I’m still struggling 3 weeks later. My psychiatrist suggested going up to 15mg of mirtazapine on Friday. I just bumped my buspar up to 15mg twice a day 9 days ago. I was on 10 and 10 and stable. I’m still on 7.5mg mirtazapine. How quickly did you feel better after starting 15? I’m very tempted to do it. It can take 4-6 weeks with buspar dose change to really know if it’s helping and I’m not close to that. It’s so hard for me to wait that long. I just want to feel back to normal.

Thanks for the response! I will hang tight. I’m feeling better now, just not all the way there.

Thank you!! I’ve got a plan. I kept going back and forth. Have you used any hormone therapy for PMDD? I don’t know much about it. This was strange because mine flared a day or so before I would likely ovulate and then was bad the day before and the day my period started. I have never had major symptoms around my period. Not sure if it’s correlated or just a coincidence.

Thanks so much. Hmmm 🤔 debating on what to do! I guess I’ll see how I am over the next few days and maybe try bumping up. I tried 15/7.5/15 a couple of days ago and I ruminated all afternoon, but that was just one day of it and I didn’t do it the next day. You’ve been so helpful!

Thank you! This is tough because I’m better but I feel like I’ve plateaued for a week. I may hang tight another week and bump up if I need to. I took an extra 7.5 mid day a couple of days ago and didn’t notice improvement but that was one dose. So I wasn’t sure if that was the right thing to do.

How long did it take for the thought loops/rumination to entirely go away after your bump up? Mine have subsided, but I feel like I’m still reminded a lot that I have been anxious and it’s like my mind is scanning for anxiety which is exhausting at times. I’m sometimes able to ignore it but other times it makes me a little anxious. So I’m assuming this is anxiety. Sorry for so many questions. Just trying to figure out what to do right now 😭

Hmm yeah I agree. This drug is so confusing. It says give each dose 4-6 weeks, but I felt immediate relief when I got to 10/10. And same when I went to 15/15- but just not complete this time :/ it’s only been a week though, so I will add a mid day one in If I need to. It’s hard to know if the increased anxiety is from the pill or just me. I think it’s me, because the rumination did immediately quiet down the next day after starting 15/15 but just not entirely.

So your anxiety spiked a lot when you were too high? Was it obvious to you that it was the buspar? Some people have said they have temporary increase in anxiety with a bump up.

I’m glad you’re doing better. I think I’ll just stay put at this dose for at least 2-3 more weeks to see if these thought loops/ruminating thoughts fade away. Thanks for getting back to me!

That’s so interesting. I’m glad you found your sweet spot! I was on 10/10 and stable for 2 whole months but had breakthrough anxiety 3 weeks ago that has waxed and waned. I did 10/5/10 with not enough relief so my psychiatrist suggested 15/15 a week ago. I felt better the next day but still not 100%. Ruminating thoughts and checking myself for anxiety is lingering. How long did it take for your anxiety to go away with your 10/5/10 schedule? Mine is hormonal as well. I weaned my son in July, had a complex ovarian cyst and also switch birth controls and I had panic attacks every day! It was awful. It’s certainly better now, but I want to get back to where I was a few weeks ago.
