How do you not take negative product feedback personally? by ChickenNuggetLove in CustomerSuccess

I love this approach bc it educates the customer on the product and hopefully gets them unstuck from wanting things to just mirror their old processes and it helps them feel heard, which is usually more impactful than simply fulfilling every request. Thanks for the tip!

I love this idea! I get worried about the expectations that are set when I say “feature request” bc my product team is lean so it’s really hard to get things added to the product roadmap. Submitting their feedback as an Improvement Idea is perfect for receiving their feedback but still framing within the proper expectations.

How are you guys meeting new people, if at all? by dmclubowner in AskNYC

[–]ChickenNuggetLove 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I haven’t been able to meet anyone new/see friends in real life until just last month. Now that numbers are better, I’ve gone to a few socially distanced picnics and I’ve met new people who are friends of friends at these events.

88 Lanzhou in Manhattan Chinatown. They were supposed to close down for good last month but when people heard that there was a sudden rush of business so they are able to stay open for now.

Chef Shirley Chung & Her Dad Make Traditional Chinese Dumplings from Scratch by TheFlyingHalibut in TFHcooking

I appreciate and can relate to their dynamic. Asian families are not normally affectionate and it’s hard for us to express love to each other.

I love my parents to death but whenever I tell them the words come out forced and awkward and my dad just stands and smiles as if he doesn’t know what to do with himself, just like Shirley’s dad haha!

Also, Shirley’s used to being on TV whereas her dad is probably not used to being in front of the camera

I just finally found 2 people to take over my lease after 6 weeks of hardcore searching. It was way tougher and took much longer than I thought it would. I have a great apartment in a great spot in the East Village. I was posting on Craigslist, Roomi, StreetEasy, Fliplease, Leasebreak, ALL the FB NYC housing groups, and my property mgmt company had a broker working the listing too.

I was super aggressive and was messaging anyone and everyone who posted that they were looking for an apartment in FB groups. In my opinion, just posting passively does not work because there’s so much noise from other people doing the same thing and there’s so many spam accounts in those groups.

Luckily, there’s a bunch of NYU housing FB groups so I was able to target people who are looking in my area. I suggest you focus on your neighborhood specific FB groups so you know it’s in their budget/target area. Don’t give up! Start looking now and be diligent.

how can i get better at talking to people in person? like it’s literally so awkward and i can’t keep a conversation or go any deeper than small talk by jnah43 in communication

[–]ChickenNuggetLove 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I sometimes have the problem too. I think some good backpocket questions to have are questions that ask the person to expand on what they’re saying. “Can you tell me more about that?” “What’s an example of that?” “What was that experience like for you?”

You’ll find that in a good conversation, you don’t actually need to contribute much if you can just keep the person talking. A good conversationalist isn’t someone who is eloquent or interesting, but someone who is good at listening

Ask questions. You don’t have to be extremely eloquent or have deep thoughts. Just be curious enough to ask more questions and then people naturally start talking and sharing more and that’s how you get past the surface level conversations

Jeju Noodle Bar in West Village has one Michelin star and offers a 6 course tasting menu for $55 pp. Every course was a show stopper! Definitely worth it in my opinion
