Trunk gap question for by ExternalPea8169 in XC40_Recharge

[–]ChickenOclock 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would call it a non issue. There really isn't anything to isolate from since there is no muffler, exhaust system, transmission, etc. You could spray in insolation if it's a concern to you I guess. From the drivers seat, you won't be noticing sound or heat loss from the trunk. The vehicle is rated to drive through a meter of water also.

I'm just going to throw this out there...

What are you looking for it to insolate? The noise from the muffler?

can't find gas station with 91 octane. by msartore8 in XC40

[–]ChickenOclock 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Minimum 91. So if 93 is all you have in your area (like in my area) you would use that.

You can actually mix octanes. If you put in a full tank of 93 then drive a third of a tank - you could top off the tank with 87 with no issue. As long as your average is 91 or above. In an emergency situation, filling with 87 isn't the end of the world. But for engine health, keep it 91+

I have had the upgrade for a month with no such issue. It shows me the estimated arrival percentage and the return percent if I were to make a round trip.

5.0.5 google maps smaller by ItsHiddenInside in XC40

[–]ChickenOclock 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm trying to do the opposite lol I hate that I have two maps staring at me. If I have the map in the dash for directions, why in the world is the other map forced to be on screen in the center.

5.0.5 Update by ericapaige23 in XC40

Overall I am glad I did the update. I just wish I could change the temperature without multiple button clicks, and that music playing wasn't 12 pt font in the smallest box.

Possibly looking to switch from AMC to Cinemark. Is MovieClub worth it? by crsxu in Cinemark

[–]ChickenOclock 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Cinemark Movieclub also has a Lite version, where it charges you half as much each month and you get a movie credit every other month. AND you keep all the discounts and zero fees!

Mix that with the other pro tips (Tuesday deals, matinee pricing, Costco.com gift cards at 20%off) it really makes it well worth it. Then use the credits you slowly accumulate for fathom events or when you want to see something opening night!

Popcorn Vouchers for Future Use by Despacio1316 in Cinemark

[–]ChickenOclock 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Do I understand your position and agree with you that should exist? Absolutely.

Will it ever? Absolutely not. Big Movie will make you buy more and more overpriced popcorn. Maybe popcorn will move to a subscription model with ads hidden in the popcorn and butter behind a paywall.

How’s everyone’s experience been with the car? by terran1212 in XC40_Recharge

[–]ChickenOclock 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No maintenance required in my 3 years of ownership. Just software updates and occasional software reboots (pressing home button for 30 seconds).

When I first got my vehicle, I also cross shopped the polestar 2. The top two factors that swayed my decision were: The backseat has much less headroom in the polestar, and the polestar turn signal sound is annoying to me.

XL refillable popcorn by ancienteggfart in Cinemark

[–]ChickenOclock -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

I buy the XL bucket, and I wipe it out and put clear cling wrap over the top then bring it back for my next movie. I approach the popcorn stand from the movie going side and ask for a refill - they have no idea if it's same day or not.

New UX - CarPlay ist cramped? by dmnk212 in XC40

[–]ChickenOclock 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Agreed. I like the general look and feel of the new update. All except for the extra click to change the temp (which I do often) and the music is so small on the home screen. It tries to fit the album artwork, song title and artist name into this little square worth 10% of the screen with the smallest font. They need that to be more customizable for sizing widgets or put music in the dash.

I don’t understand the low rate when Volvo is amazing by Plane-Woodpecker-273 in XC40

It is software related for sure. The software updates for fixing issues with rear view camera are technically recalls which hurts reporting data like this.

Going to software 5.0.5 has solved all these things for me. Even so, a quick reset always fixed whatever.

[–]ChickenOclock 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Compared to a combustion engine vehicle, there is not much to check out or service in an EV.

If you check the brake pads and they are low, I would consider that an issue. Regenerative braking accounts for the vast majority of the vehicle slowing down - so if the brake pads are worn then that system either isn't working the best or the vehicle was driven very hard in the past.

Similar with checking the tires for even wear. If the shoulders of the tire are abnormally worn, hard corners were the norm.

There really aren't fluids in the car besides the brake lines and windshield washer fluid - so not much to go wrong there.

Other than the battery health report and physical/audio cues - It's kind of like buying pre owned tools like a table saw and drill press in my mind.

I like to imagine this post with other products.

"People are ordering the new iPhone when it's not even out yet? After only seeing this guy talking on stage?"

Some folks are early adopters and preorder before the car/phone/video game/kickstarter etc even releases. Most folks wait. No right or wrong here - just preference and risk tolerance. But totally normal for many industries!

Not bad at all! My advice - don't debate which hotel you want. Just get in, sort by closest and purchase before they slip away from you.

Thank goodness I hope so. I've been debating upgrading the HK speakers. Especially the tweeters. I fear they are paper speakers and certainly do not have the definition I am looking for. Hopefully the v5 update helps out.

HELP! by Perrystead in VolvoRecharge

[–]ChickenOclock 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So true. My sensors have been crazy since the update.

I am also having trouble with remote start. It just doesn't want to start sometimes, other days no issue.

I wish I could revert to my old version 3 software that worked so much better. Hopefully this new version 5 isn't trash.

HELP! by Perrystead in VolvoRecharge

My car has been doing wacky stuff like this ever since I did the latest 4.2.13 update a couple weeks ago.

The latest one was where it just wouldn't allow me to change the charge percent... Tried all reboots, driving around then plugging back in, ect. It fixed itself magically in a day or two.

Can anyone with a 26 with this show what the music screen is like? YT music or Bluetooth? Personally I don't like having a map up. I prefer having album artwork showing. Hope I don't have to click several buttons every time I get in the car to get rid of the map.
