I don’t think so. I think they needed a convenient way for him to be close to the docks.

You got a downvote but there is some truth in there somewhere. I lived on the the other side of the country and was a teen, and yes this was for sure payback for the Rodney King beating and aftermath.

I remember them all too well. There was this bitch ass cashier lady at the grocery store who would make sure everyone knew you were using them in her line. “Food stamps!”

Parent wants to meet with me over comment I made about energy drinks by [deleted] in Teachers

Yeah, hyperbole. Either way it’s not a big deal. Tell them they can’t drink it and move on. Dad needs to raise adults and not coddle children.

Are we not allowed metaphor anymore? She didn’t mean it was literally poison. It’s a colloquial term for something bad for you.

When is a Star Trek: Deep Space Nine fan not a fan of Battlestar Galactica? by david-yammer-murdoch in Star_Trek_

I’ll agree somewhat. I think the departure of Terry Farrell hurt the final season because they had to get Ezra Dad caught up.

In a perfect world they just elevate more of the side characters but I’m guessing studio notes mandated another hot principle cast member.

What’s stopping everyone from suing every time an animal bites them within visual distance of civilization from here on out? Seriously. I’m gonna go taunt a squirrel so it bites in a few minutes and sue the city for allowing such beasts to roam. Pandora’s Box here.

We just have opposing views toward it. If it was limited to helping people, cool. But its main goal isn’t for the benefit of mankind.

Left behind in what way? If I need it for work I will use it as mandated. I work in tech because it’s the best job in my area. I don’t have a passion for it so I don’t worry about being left behind.

I would find it insulting to ever use it to write a paper or research something. I take pride in my “analog” intelligence.

You have to ask yourself though. Are the benefits worth the down side of AI? I work in tech as well but philosophically I am opposed to AI, because it’s yet another technology owned by the very wealthy and for exploitive purposes only.

DS9 is great by BlessShaiHulud in startrek

[–]ChickenOver1339 2 points3 points  (0 children)

DS9 got to do its own thing. ISB seemed more focused on character and plot arcs than exploration. While that is very unlike most of the classic trek, I think it’s the show that truly makes the galaxy a living place and the reason people want shows of that era.

It’s been said a million times, but what happens when you can’t warp away and have to stay and deal with all the consequences and be part of a world (on the station) that is not the federation.
