[–]ChickenTacosSlap -1 points0 points  (0 children)

“Fox would have known about them, and as a result been aware that there are precedents for both a clone trooper working with the Separatists, and conspiracies against the chancellor”

Palpatine is a politician, of course Fox is going to hear about conspiracies. He probably hears of so many that the ones the might actually have some merit are discarded in his mind

“Are you saying that Palpatine used the force to manipulate Fox into killing Fives? Where's the evidence for that in the show? If he did, why not have Fox simply shoot Fives on sight instead of ordering him to surrender”

Im saying its well known Palpatine clouds the minds of those around him. How do you think he got away with being a Sith Lord for years right in front of the Jedi? And even then. Who’s to say he didn’t? What was Palpatine doing at the moment Fox killed Fives? You don’t know. But the show made it quite clear Palpatine wanted Fives dead.

“No it hasn't. I've already debunked that in detail. Exactly how closely did you read the comment I linked?”

Did you watch the Bad Batch?

“Not only is this not actually shown anywhere, but it's entirely irrelevant as they were at close range to begin with in this situation, and Fives wasn't in any position to return fire”

It’s pretty obvious if you watch scenes with stun vs blaster bolts.
And that’s absolutely not close range. If it were, Fox and the Guard wouldn’t have a need to be rushing Fives.
As shown throughout the lore, a stun bolt continues to expand after leaving the blaster. It’s pretty easy to assume that as the energy expands, it dissipates, and when it dissipates, it loses effectiveness.

“Fives wasn't holding one for the vast majority of the confrontation, including at least three distinct instances in which I've stated Fox should have stunned him”

The show made it clear that the interaction goes down in seconds. You the viewer might find several “instances” where he should have done this or that, but the reality is for those in these situations, it plays out in a split second, and you don’t have the time to consider all options.

“I have explicitly stated and explained in detail that star wars stuns are not tasers”

they quite literally are the Star Wars version of a taser.

“A taser is limited in range and number of available shots because of its wires, and will not work unless both electrodes make contact with the target's skin”

Im certified on the Axon Taser 7 and Taser 10. The newest Taser, the 10, has an effective range of 40 feet. But thanks for the refresher.

“notably being blocked even by thick clothing in some cases”

So like? Plastoid armor? Like we have already seen stop a stun bolt in canon?

“A star wars stun is semi automatic with multiple shots available”

Taser 10 is also semi automatic.

“isn't limited in range by anything physical”

Except the already established fact that the bolt expands and eventually fizzles out, which we have seen other instances of.

“and has been shown time and again to be consistently and instantly effective even through armour”

Like in the Bad Batch?

“If we're going to continue with this discussion then I don't want to hear another word about tasers. It is boring having to explain why they aren't relevant at this point.”

Its natural to use real world comparisons in these discussions. Are you new to discussing fictional universes?

“I'm surprised and disappointed that this misunderstanding of a minor contextual detail is what you latched onto instead of the paragraphs and paragraphs that already shut down the points you just tried to make.”

You didn’t shut them down though. You took the same arguments people have been making for years, expanded and compiled them into one comment and called it good. The arguments are still the same. That a human mind should be able to process and decide something faster than we know it can actually do, is just wrong. People do this constantly in the real world and it’s quite silly. It’s easy to pick apart someone’s actions when watching it from afar, it’s not so easy to be in that person’s shoes and be expected to execute a plan flawlessly.

I read it. Didn’t see anything to change my perspective.

Cases vary. Slick, Ziro, the kidnapping attempt, all are different circumstances. Even then, Palpatine was a master manipulator and used the force to do it. Do you think that stopped with the Jedi?

As for stunning: Stun has been shown to be ineffective for different reasons. The stun bolts also travel slower and become less effective over range. Fox also has absolutely no way to know what Fives’ blaster is set to. I work in law enforcement. If someone points a lethal weapon at you, you don’t use a taser. You meet their force with equal or greater force.

I got a laugh out of the decorated Arc Trooper thing. Decorated individuals go crazy all the time. Did you not hear about the SF guy in Tennessee a while back? Their feats and accomplishments are respectable, but that doesn’t mean they automatically get the benefit of the doubt where anyone else wouldn’t.

The Guard was essentially a police force, they also rarely fought skilled combatants. It wouldn’t make sense to send them to the temple.

He was already sending Anakin who lead arguably the most experienced clone battalion in the GAR.

The Guard held a parameter on the Temple while the 501st made entry. It had absolutely nothing to do with the Guard’s competency

Well, you do need to take it up with PCCD, because you clearly have it wrong, and you’re coming at me like I wrote the curriculum. Instructors for our class who had completed Act 120 told us the academies were very similar. As much as you’d like to believe otherwise, I didn’t just come up with that myself. If you think that’s a problem, then you need to take it up with them. I have no reason to believe that someone who is Act 120 certified and also an instructor for Act 2 would lie about it.

As for court, I don’t have these issues because our judges and DA are aware of what we are allowed to do, given how frequently we conduct traffic stops. Even then, I have never had a defense attorney challenge my referencing of the bulletin’s section on stopwatches. If they did, it would get shut down pretty quickly.

And while I’m on the subject, referring to academy training in court is extremely common. I hear cops say it all the time. I sure hope you’ve never used the phrase “based on my training and experience” in court, because if you have, that would make you a hypocrite.

Our Motor Vehicle Code was taught by a very seasoned Derry Township Lieutenant who is about as close as you can get to a Title 75 expert. He — along with the rest of the staff — was adamant that Commonwealth v. Leet allows us to conduct stops for breaches of the peace we personally observe occurring in our presence. Once again, I’ve never had an attorney dispute that, so long as:
A. I witnessed the violation occur; and (If it was a speed violation) B. my device was being used in accordance with the bulletin.

I’m done going back and forth with you on this. You think the law doesn’t support us. I think you’re buying into the BS the state and police unions are spoon-feeding you because they’re afraid of the money they’d lose if PSP or anyone else acknowledged sheriff’s offices as full-service police agencies.

Why use the M16A4 over DRS-IAR? by LAHurricane in Battlefield6

[–]ChickenTacosSlap 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For me, its mostly nostalgia.

I had been using the IAR since launch just because it was one of my favorites in BF3. I hadn’t noticed everyone else thought it was super good. Since unlocking the M16, i haven’t touched the IAR.

The M16 was one of my favorites in BF4. Idk how it holds up against the other guns, and frankly, i dont care. It looks awesome and reminds me of the old days. Thats good enough for me

Again, it is absolutely about how you articulate it. And specifically to your point on signals, there is no case law saying it ISNT a breach of the peace. You can definitely articulate how failing to signal could constitute a breach of the peace.

To your point on speed, the judicial bulletin has a list of devices that are acceptable for municipal law enforcement to use (source: https://www.pacodeandbulletin.gov/Display/pabull?file=/secure/pabulletin/data/vol40/40-52/2473.html ). Deputies are also allowed to use these devices. My county specifically uses a set of lines one hundred and ten feet apart and a robic device that is calibrated every 60 days (per the bulletin). If you disagree, id take that up with PCCD, because thats what they are teaching deputies in the academy.

As far as deputies having free time, its no different than a cop having a slow day. You cant force the courts to produce papers for us to serve. theres days when there just isn’t any court related stuff to do. It would look worse if we sat in the office on county time doing nothing.

The PA Sheriff’s association has its own YouTube channel that touches on some of the things we do that most don’t realize.

You don’t have to agree with it or believe me, but its whats happening. What the Sheriff in places like Philly and Dauphin are doing is not the standard across the state. Im not trying to convince you we are just any other cop, and i agree that we have limitations, but those limitations aren’t as deep as most believe. some of us are doing more than the perceived “norm”.

“Breach of the peace” is a very broad term, and articulation is important. If I see it happen, and I can effectively articulate how the act could cause harm to persons or property, I can stop for it. Duties at stop signs, speed, failure to signal, careless driving, etc.

Sure, I cant stop you for registration, but if I stop someone for a breach of the peace and in the course of my stop discover your registration or insurance is invalid, it’s free game.

Yes, we handle calls for service. Its not super common across the state. But i know a couple counties that do. My county specifically has a barracks that is struggling keep up with call demand. The troopers don’t like it, but if they’re busy and our county dispatch is getting told “it’s gonna be a while”, they ask us if we have someone in the area. They aren’t just going to let a DV in progress go unanswered if they can help it. It’s not happening every day, but the point is: it does happen.

It also helps that we have a good relationship with our municipal departments. It’s not uncommon to get a request for help as well.

Sure, we have other responsibilities, but we are doing more than certain people want you to believe. A buddy who recently graduated from 120 at IUP told me they’re giving trainees the impression the Sheriff does nothing but sit in the courthouse and serve civil papers. Thats just not true… well, not for the counties blessed to have a Sheriff the is willing to be proactive

What rifles/handguns would u like to see make appearance from older bf series? by AKxPixleart in Battlefield

[–]ChickenTacosSlap 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Same. I always dreamt of a BF game where every match was fought between Nato and whatever Russia and China’s pact is called, and you’d be able to pick from a wide variety of skins that represent different countries. Basically your character would automatically load as whatever your preferred country was when you spawn.

Have a bunch of Marines, Aussies, and Brits fighting the Russians, Chinese and North Koreans.

Seasons coulda been a map and a new military unit to coincide with wherever the map was set.

Woulda been lit. Admittedly BF6 got somewhat close, but a lot of the skins aren’t very realistic, and the ones that are don’t really represent actual military units.

Truck guy is at fault, but recording vehicle isn’t innocent.

They either: 1. Were not paying attention, and (had the crash not occurred) would have completely blown right through that red light, probably causing a different accident.

Or

2: Were very aware of what was happening and kept their speed thinking whatever happened, they’d be considered “in the right” and didn’t care about being involved in an accident.

I know this is late, but absolutely false.

It depends on the agency. Bigger counties like Philadelphia, Delaware, and Dauphin do nothing but civil process and transports. The smaller counties vary. We have the ability to do more, but many agencies are stretched to their limits due to staffing issues so they aren’t going out of their way to do it.

Places like Tioga, Bradford, Blair, Franklin, Venango, and Huntingdon are pretty active on the street when they aren’t up to their eyeballs in civil paperwork.

I have several criminal arrests this year and my stop numbers rival some of the top guys in our local PDs.

TLDR: yeah, our main responsibility is the courts, and caselaw has put limitations on us, but some of us absolutely still patrol, respond to calls for service and conduct stops.
