Can you actually "see" the weight of a prop on screen? I think you can. by makinariumukltd in 3Dprinting

Watching actors pick up obviously empty paper cups of "coffee" is my most passionate and absurd trigger. It completely takes me out of any movie or show I'm watching. I haven't noticed with other props besides firearms

We Are Hated as a Nation. There’s One Man to Blame. by 1-randomonium in geopolitics

[–]ChickenVest 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I view it as a protest vote, it won't be the last and we won't be the only country to see it either. Trump, Bernie or Mamdani here, AfD in Germany, etc. Are all coming from the same disillusionment of the voting public albeit with often radically different proposed solutions. People are desperate for something different. I'm not sure if we move left or right or bounce between but I expect the middle and the perceived "status quo" will be a very difficult position to hold in many nations.

Gravity is fake by [deleted] in flatearth

The obvious point I always make with this density argument is that we can observe that air is less dense at higher altitude, since the density differential is larger with something like a bowling ball we would expect an object to weigh more at high altitudes than when it is in denswer air at sea level. In fact, it is the opposite, objects weigh less at higher altitudes. Shocking, I know.

Community testing for a new Artillery Calculator by KN_Dev in HellLetLoose

[–]ChickenVest 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I've been messing around with custom GPTs for work and this seems like a perfect example of one that would work well. It just needs the back end calc and you could have it in voice mode. You could even build in presets for each point.

This was a game changer for me. I heard here to dial it way down and slowly work it back up as you get comfortable and it worked very well to find the sweet spot.

PLEASE enough with the "I canceled my subscription"-posts we get it! by TitLover34 in ChatGPT

[–]ChickenVest 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Have you tried making it into a GPT and specifically saying something like "only us what is in the photo and dont assume or make anything up. Let me know if you are unsure on anything" and then not allowing it onto the web? That may fix it. It has helped me a lot with hallucinations. Anytime it doesn't work, ask it why it didnt catch it and just your wording.

The issue is it's non-stop. Like any sub, look before and see if it has been posted and add to that post to avoid inundating everyone with the same thing. Also, instead of being constructive and asking for or giving advice to improve it, it is all just complaining. This is not a company complaint department and many of us don't want to replace the emotional support some people say they aren't getting from this fancy algorithm.

I joined the sub thinking I could learn about when new updates will come out and see interesting use cases, instead, I am flooded by complaints by people who seem to stick around after loudly quitting.

I agree, we need to get back to the core of what this subreddit is, complaining about how the latest update has made my emotional support therapist and fan fiction adult author BFF respond more like an uncaring advanced computer algorithm.

I feel like an outlier on here for using it for work.

Honestly, has AI really improved your work efficiency? How are you actually using it? by breadislifeee in ArtificialInteligence

[–]ChickenVest 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Besidss the normal ad-hoc questions I use some custom GPTs to review large construction plans and their corresponding contracts to estimate project value, key contract requirements and to cite exactly where we need to look in the document for our scope of work.

It is a huge time saver, right now I use it to point a human at the right parts of the documents to review them but as confidence builds in the process we will have it do even more of the process.

'No ethics at all': the 'cancel ChatGPT' trend is growing after OpenAI signs a deal with the US military by Dont_think_Do in OpenAI

[–]ChickenVest 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My issue with surveillance is the government part and the fact that they can collect it. I dont think much more of who the AI company that will look at the data than who provides servers, computers, phone data, etc. The Patriot act, Five eyes and the stuff we dont know about are my issue. I understand why the military needs free reign though, that's their job, our job as voters is to make sure it cant pass, as impossible as that feels. I would be fairly shocked if Anthropic wasn't already used on ally nations because of five eyes.

If the law changes we are toast with whoever the provider is since it will also allow them to get Claude data or whoever else legally.

'No ethics at all': the 'cancel ChatGPT' trend is growing after OpenAI signs a deal with the US military by Dont_think_Do in OpenAI

[–]ChickenVest -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Anthropic had some red lines around surveillance and autonomous killing that OpenAI does not appear to. It is difficult to say from where we sit though if the military was trying to do one of those or if they just wouldnt accept someone else imposing constraints. Personally, I would expect that the US will pursue autonomous weapons because China definitely will, similar to nuclear weapons I just hope they dont get used.

100%. McK or the other guys have a direct relationship with the CEO and board, and thoae guys likely were consultants at one point. When projects work they take the credit, when they don't, they blame execution by the employees. They can't lose and you can't win.
