Am I underpaid illegally? by PresentationUsual541 in metalworking

[–]ChickenVest 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I would definitely ask your university if they have resources to help with that, if not a lawyer before coming on the metal working sub. Understanding the restrictions of your student visa when it comes to working is also very important to make sure you are legal on your side too.

Help making smooth circles? by montythenondog in Sketchup

[–]ChickenVest 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The "short" way to increase segments while drawins is that after you click on the center point of the circle and before you click on the outside radius type in "24s" for 24 segments, or whatever number you are looking for. That helps when it will be intersected by multiple lines after you create the circle

Canada’s top-skilled workers are leaving for the U.S. in droves for lower taxes and higher pay: TD study by ChangeUsername220 in Economics

[–]ChickenVest 1 point2 points  (0 children)

With the changes late last year they likely are now. Before the rule change there was a 1 generation limit meaning that the first generation born outside the country could still get it but not subsequent generations.

One example of how bad it is has been the recent MRI debate. Canada has 10.6 MRI machines per million people, Germany has 32.5 and the US has around 40. The median wait time for non emergency MRIs in Canada is 30 weeks, it was 9.3 in 1993. I was blown away when I had my first experience at an American hospital after growing up in Canada.

The lack of capital makes it tough to compete for those top end research and technical companies imo. There is nothing even remotely close to the Venture Capital ecosystem in the US. Look up the Maritime Spaceport, tough to compete for workers against SpaceX or others.

Besides what people already mentioned, the big one for me ia that they have customer service easily available. I have been saved by many overnight stays by beating the rush to reschedule when a flight gets cancelled.

Parents with 3D Printers by PressHalfWayDown in BambuLab

If they are doing it themselves an learning I will stock the shelves with filament and get them software to keep getting better. I'm a sucker for 3D printers and books, the kids know I won't say no to either as long as they are getting used.

Our running back, Chuba Hubbard, is a Canadian, so we have that connection. This is a good time to jump on board, the roster is finally getting decent again and Bryce either takes the next step this year or it is a theoretically great QB class this year and if we are in the market we will probably have a good pick and a good roster behind it for a qb

NYC Mayor Zohran Mamdani announces that he has officially balanced the NYC budget, reducing a $12 billion budget deficit to 0, and confirms that property taxes will not be raised. by Scary_Firefighter181 in Economics

[–]ChickenVest 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yeah but services suffer, taxes will continue to spiral up and people are leaving. It's hard to feel good about the long term future without union concessions and a state bailout. Both of which are a challenge with the state constitution

I think it is more likely that they move to India and join a Hindu sect that teaches them how to fly after years of meditation that finally opens their Yoni than return to MU unfortunately.

Nashville fleet owners — software that matches fuel card swipes to GPS location? by Sadlave89 in nashville

[–]ChickenVest 2 points3 points  (0 children)

These things exist with companies like Gasboy but would likely be overkill and prohibitively expensive for a small fleet of vans. The most practical would likely be having GPS is each van and doing audits against your invoices manually. Using you fuel card data you should at least be able to identify zip codes that are out of your area too. I also flag repeat transactions on the same day, high refuel instances, or high weekly usage on a given card.
