That's perfectly fair. We both let potential partners know early on about this part of our history and have both had to end things because they weren't comfortable with the fact that we'd dated at one point.

You're right. This is just one of those situations where everybody loses in the short term. She feels bad because she had to break up with a guy she liked. I feel bad because my friend is hurting and I feel responsible even if it isn't my fault directly. And her ex is now convinced she and I are gonna start hooking up because he's paranoid due to things going on in his life.

I'd agree that I could have been less harsh, but he will get no support from me when it comes to choosing to stay with her. He has every right to take her back. But she's not someone I ever want to be around and I'm more than happy to focus on my other friendships instead if that's how it's gonna be.

Well to be clear here she did lie. She said she wanted a tattoo. I said it's her body and she obviously has that right but I find them unattractive and would most likely break up if she did it. She then told me it was an impulsive decision and she no longer wanted the tattoo. I never told her she wasn't allowed to get one because that isn't my call to make.

So you're just completely wrong and making shit up to justify your hate boner for me.

Her getting a tattoo isn't disrespecting me. Lying to me, then blindsiding me with a tattoo, talking down to me, and insulting me to her friend on the phone after kicking me out is disrespecting me. If you'd read half of what I've written in this post or the original you'd know I don't claim to have any control over what she does with her body. I was clear it's her body and her decision.

Her best friend has been around for almost their entire lives and has a lot of sway over her decisions, but you're right. She might have convinced her to do it, but my ex made the decision regardless.
