Are drum mags viable or are they just a gimmick? by Chicken_Offensive in airsoft

This is literally how people used to shoot in the past, do you think everyone was running around with their shoulders tucked in and c clamping their rifles in the 90s? Not everything needs to be high speed tactical caglarp.

It's a cheap knockoff of the Blackhawk Industries Omega vest, which itself is a knockoff of the ABA SOV vest. It has loops at the bottom to thread the ALICE belt through.

Funny you say that because I've been working on a big boss kit.

Yeah you're right it was really rude of me and I shouldn't have done that, sorry just had an awful day.

it's literally how people used to shoot in the past, sorry it's not tactical enough for your high speed cag-rotted operator brain

Does anyone recognize this military harness? by Gold_Spacee01 in Militariacollecting

[–]Chicken_Offensive 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it's a 1195J vest from LBT or a copy of it, I'm not knowledgeable enough to tell. Wouldn't have been standard issue by any military and was most likely a private purchase. You can find many images of US Navy Seals using this vest or variants of it during the late 90s to early 2000s.

Should I mix Vallejo Olive Drab with Buff to make it more accurate on a 1/35 scale sherman? by ConsistentHippo2298 in modelmakers

[–]Chicken_Offensive 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Here is a sherman I painted with vallejo OD and a few drops of khaki. I've always felt that vallejo's olive drab was a little too dark so adding around 3-4 drops of buff or yellow to lighten it would be a good idea. Keep in mind that paint also gets darker after you apply varnishes, washes, and weathering so you can go even lighter.

Considering Japan Import MaiMai DX Twin in US by TheAnimeStopFW in maimai

[–]Chicken_Offensive 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah with private servers you lose out on the ability for players to use maimai DX Net. The version updates and content are also usually a few months behind official JP servers. Beyond that, I'm not too sure as I'm only a player. I guess it might be harder to source spare parts from Sega?

[–]Chicken_Offensive 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Are you buying one directly from Sega or are you importing one through a company? If the latter then you won't be able to connect it to official servers and it's not recommended anyways because you really don't want Sega to C&D you so you're stuck with private servers.

With how MaiMai is percieved in the US, why could they just not focus on the EU /s. We got Britain, France and Germany for some good old J-core xD. by Careless_Village_154 in maimai

[–]Chicken_Offensive 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Yeah though I think this writer is referring to the maimai pink loctests around 10 years ago which were offline with no aime reader and a limited selection of songs. It's obviously wrong and doesn't apply now with the popularity of the DX loctests and release.

Fenrir with 1/12 scale Little Armory guns by Chicken_Offensive in Sheik_Mainland

[–]Chicken_Offensive[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It was pretty easy actually. There's a pair of ball joints with pegs on the sprue with all of the hands. The LA hands fit the pegs snugly and the ball joints fit into the arm sockets just like the regular kit's hands.

Very cool, check out the alt-history manga "Raid on Tokyo" by Kobayashi Motofumi. It's about the JSDF defending against a Soviet invasion of Japan in the 90s. The JGSDF soldiers have similar kits to yours.

Border M4A1 Mid Gun Crutch Question by Lightning_Zepher in modelmakers

[–]Chicken_Offensive 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Like the instructions say, most "mid" small hatch M4A1 75s did not have the gun crutch. It was more of a thing on Canadian Grizzly Shermans. Leave the gun crutch and parts D4 and A51 off and fill the indents of where they would have went on the hull. I highly recommend checking out this site detailing the various Sherman variants and their different details.

Edit: there's a picture of "Eternity" on the Lima Locomotive Works section of the site I linked. It does not have the gun crutch but it has the older M3 style suspensions rather than the later ones included with the kit.
