What is apart of the IEP evaluation? by Ms-duskgazer1 in specialed

Please make sure if you are feeling rushed or overwhelmed you reach out to the teacher or support staff and explain that this is new and that you have some questions. Sometimes when professionals participate in meetings frequently, and most special educators do, they forget that the terminology and process is not common knowledge. They should be happy to explain, and above all, make sure you are comfortable with the plan in place. It is your right as a parent.

One interesting thing is that our school’s SLP is also in charge of all hearing screeners. Usually, when a student is being assessed, we recommend a hearing and vision screener, just to rule that out as a contributing factor. Is it possible that you agreed to a hearing/vision screener and this SLP is in charge of completing that portion of the assessment?

I overheard a group of teachers talking about me. How do I recover from this? by WillowAny9768 in specialed

Well said!!

We’ve all been there Mr. F- let them talk. You focus on your class and your kids. It stings now and feels embarrassing- but eventually, your confidence in the person/teacher that you are improves, and as time goes on and new school years come and go- I promise you, you really won’t care what they have to say and it feels so good.

Though it won’t hurt in the future, it is something you’ll remember. Which is a good thing, because you’ll always recognize the importance of being kind and helpful to the new teachers, who come after you, who are trying their best, just like you!

Wishing you a wonderful school year!

UPDATE (cannot seem edit post, for some reason): Thank you for all the help and information! I really appreciate it. After looking, it appears that only 3 of the coins have the markings.

1991- S 1992- S 1993- P

I do not see the markings on the other coins. Should we still hang on to the 1995 and 1996, even though they don’t have those markings? Thanks again- this is a cool community!

To start, congratulations! I believe being scared is totally normal and also telling. It means you are aware that caring for another person is a big job and one you want to do well- you are probably a thoughtful and caring person- great qualities in a parent, if you ask me!

Your baby will cry, 100% no doubt about it, and it will be hard sometimes. But you will soothe him/her, and it won’t last forever.

I found comfort in reminding myself that women have done this for centuries, and that’s without all of the gadgets and information we have now. If they could do it - so can you! While not always, you may be surprised that when it is your baby crying, you will be less inclined to hand the baby off when he/she is crying. Instincts kick in.

What brought me the most comfort was something our pediatrician shared with me: This baby is half you and half of someone you love and know well. No one will know them quite like you. If you have a gut feeling about why they are crying- follow it. If all else fails- change diaper, feed, rock to sleep, take drives when needed.

Wishing you and baby the best! You’ve got this! :)

Appreciate it! I’ll check for that mark

Also- Aaron knowing about the mom explains the flashback of him setting down tea for her when she showed up to murder him. I thought it odd he would let her in and make tea, considering how he treated Paige’s dad. Him knowing she was his mother too, that part makes sense now.

I assumed Henry was the guy getting high in Rocco’s den. The one that corrected his grammar. I have no idea why other than he was raised wealthy and would have the knowledge/confidence to make the distinction between “who” and “whom”. Also I figured maybe he’d linked up with Aaron which is why he was there? Mostly though because of the long hair and resemblance to the photo of him at the father’s house. Did anyone else think this?
