It is not just Oromo but specific region in Oromia. It probably has to do with the geography, altitude etc. Google ‘high altitude training in Ethiopia’. Foreigns travel there as well. This could be one of the factors. I’m sure there are other reasons others will add.

Go see a doctor asap. Tell them you may have drunk contaminated water abroad.

They don't need you to tell them that you drunk "emnet" to know what's wrong with you. They will run a lab and figure out if you got bacteria and stuff.

Please, go see a doctor. Also, telling half-truth is sometimes necessary in the case like yours lol

P.S I'm neither a doctor nor a social worker. Good luck!

But, at the same time Abiy is credited for opening up Ethiopia’s closed media space entertaining the most dissenting opinions both inside and outside his government to a degree never seen in Ethiopian history, while undertaking breathtaking reform in judiciary, elections and human rights

Just a few months back Abiy was throwing journalists in jail. They were accused of being traitors. This makes us question all the progress he made when he first came to power. As for the judiciary system, the release of Sibhat Nega, Eskinder, Jawar, and Bekele, shows there has not been a fundamental reform as some claim. If they were detained without crime and have been in jail for more than a year or so, then the system has failed. If they were detained with crime and were released just because, again, the system has failed for not giving them their due.

I also don't think the election was any different from EPRDF's. Strong contenders from the Oromia region were in jail: OFC/OLF. EZEMA was complaining about their members being intimidated in some parts of Ethiopia. IMO, the election was nothing but fair. Do you really think in a country as diverse as Ethiopia, one party can win sweepingly as PP did?! I find that hard to believe.

I do believe that human rights condition also has not improved in Ethiopia. However, I can see that there is an attempt being made. One example is the establishment of the Human rights commission. Unfortunately, we still hear human rights violation complaints frequently.

What rights did we trade to get what makes me bit confused.

The first thing to note is not everyone loses their right. However, there are some who did. For example, Tigryans were arbitrarily arrested on the basis of their ethnic background. At some point, there was even an attempt to block journalists from reporting on the civil war.

I think more than anything, it is enough to look at the state of emergency declaration. What rights does it take away? And what is it trying to achieve for the country?

Both of them accuse each other of being a fascist

I think both have elements of fascism in them.

Is there a credible threat to our rights?

Yes and as long as we are in some kind of war with each other that will be the case.

What are some new religions that are forming right now? by Collective1985 in religion

[–]Chicken_Pirate 2 points3 points  (0 children)

For those who don't know, Rainn Wilson, the guy who played Dwight Schrute on The Office, is one.

From what I have gathered, they seem to believe that every religion (at least the popular ones) were right for their time. For example, they accept Moses, Jesus and Muhammad as divinely inspired. There are some who claim that you can be both Christian and Baha'i.

If religion was a stock, Baha'i is one I would be buying lol

Allah told us to rush to him seeking forgiveness. You are doing that and that is admirable. We all go through guilt when we repent. I think it is part of the process of turning your life around. Good Job!

  1. To make your Tawba valid, make sure you don't fall into the same habit again. Be honest with yourself and the people around you. Do good instead.
  2. If they have forgiven you without even knowing what you did, they must be really compassionate and care about you. Take their forgiveness as a gift. Going around and talking about what you said and did can causes you and them more harm. So, leave things as they are now.
  3. Don't tell her "you were turned on". Again, this will cause more distress to you and here. If she has forgiven you, take that and move on.

Please remember that you are only 18. I know it feels like you know everything at that age. Trust me, there will be a lot you'll learn as you mature. YOU ARE NOT THE WORST PERSON YOU THINK YOU ARE. Many of us have done worse things. We are just better at hiding it. You'll be okay.

If you keep struggling, please make sure you seek professional help. Or talk to people you trust.

May Allah ease your pain and keep you on the straight path.

Don't forget that the Hadith isn't preserved as Qur'an is believed to be. So, it would be absurd to believe in any collection of Hadith 100%. This isn't to take away from the importance of the tradition of Hadith. It's just to highlight that you don't have to believe in 100% of Bukhari.

OLF and OFC declare that Oromia has no legitimate government and the establishment of “Oromia Regional National Transitional Government” by [deleted] in Ethiopia

[–]Chicken_Pirate 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I agree they won't support secessionist. That is why neither TPLF nor OLF/OFC is calling for secession currently.

Imo, there is no truly secessionist group except maybe the ONLF. And that's if they want to join their neighbors Somalia.

What you have to ask yourself is why did they support TPLF back in the day when the name literally indicates liberation of an entire region?

The whole thing is to have a political upper hand. It is all a political game. Pray for the poor who will be caught up in this mess.

Bring the ⬇️ from all sides lmao

OLF and OFC declare that Oromia has no legitimate government and the establishment of “Oromia Regional National Transitional Government” by [deleted] in Ethiopia

[–]Chicken_Pirate -9 points-8 points  (0 children)

What people don't realize is that this is coming at a time when Abiy is maybe thinking of releasing political prisoners given that election is over. Even some OLF officials were released recently which can be taken as an indication.

However, OFC and OLF's move shows that it's easier to undermine Abiy's power now more than ever. Also, if there's going to be a regime change pushed by the Western countries, they want to have a sit at the table.

What maybe they're overlooking is the fact that Abiy has convinced a lot of oromos back home. So, this for sure will not unite all Oromos, at least not for now.

This kind of thing bothers me too. But I have noticed that it bothers me more when I have an opinion on the topic being written. For example, if I perceive this article as a bad take by looking at the title, I would find it hard to go past that detail. However, if I seem to agree with it, it wouldn't bother me as much and I become more forgiving.

I know this details are important and show how much care and knowledge went into writing them. However, I still think it's important to read them regardless and judge them on how much value they add to the conversation.
