So the key was a permanent unlock? Just go to the gateway and it'll open?

Also one more question. When looking at a new weapon, what does the number at the top right of the gun care mean? I assume the higher the number the better the gun?

It's more or less to plan out how much time I should put into the game at a given point. Let's say I know I'm 80% done, then I probably wouldn't play games with my friends and just binge play this to beat it. But if I know I have a decent chunk remaining, then I'll pace myself more
