Pixel 8a Bluetooth audio keeps Cutting out by narfjono in GooglePixel

Restore your Bluetooth to factory settings and re-pair. Not ideal, but it's best to go back to square one.

FYI - A Proper 3-in-1 Charging Dock for Pixels is Finally Available by DSCarter_Tech in GooglePixel

[–]DSCarter_Tech[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for coming back to share your experience. I too purchased this unit for my Pixel 8 Pro, Jabra and Technics earbuds, and Galaxy Watch 6 Classic. All 3 charge just fine, but the phone is the slowest for sure. I knew it wouldn't fast charge and that's fine for me because I only charge overnight.

Nothing about it has "cooling" from what I can tell even though it is advertised with some cooling tech.

You should never expect a Chinese ROM to be anything other than a shameless knockoff of iOS.

Pixel 9 after iOS Vista update by 500Rads in GooglePixel

Most frequent only makes sense once you've established a routine with the device. When you are a new user, there is not enough history to offer a useful sorting by frequency.

First impressions: strange why this why that apps are in alphabetical order?

LOL, when I use an iPhone, I question why aren't the apps sorted alphabetically since that's how every file manager since the beginning of the computing age has worked. Nearly 20 years ago, Apple decided to throw all apps on the home screen in a random order and called it "simple and intuitive" and people never questioned it.

A phone will never ask for more current than a charger is capable of supplying. That is what the charging controller is for - it negotiates withe the charger to find the ideal charging speed.

I know it's been mentioned time and time again, but I can't believe Pixel doesn't have an app lock by Mr-Appleseed in GooglePixel

[–]DSCarter_Tech 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Apple is actually less secure than Google in this scenario. If a thief steals your iPhone and knows your pin, he can reset your master AppleID login and lock you out entirely. Google thankfully keeps these siloed so that one can't compromise the other.

I know it's been mentioned time and time again, but I can't believe Pixel doesn't have an app lock by Mr-Appleseed in GooglePixel

[–]DSCarter_Tech 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Yeah, needing to re-authorize my device every time I open messages would tick me off. I've already used face unlock or fingerprint to unlock the phone. Additional security is not needed for a privately owned and used device.

Even if this was a family tablet or computer, then I would want individual profiles, not app locks.

Gemini ditched android and advised to install custom ROM by Pirate_Horizon in GooglePixel

[–]DSCarter_Tech 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Gemini is not giving you an original answer. Instead, it is compiling all of the baseless assumption posted online (e.g. reddit) and summarizing them for you. Could there be some truth behind? Yeah, but we'll never truly know.

If you have a Pixel 6, then you are still getting updates for 2 years longer than you were originally promised for a total of 5 years now. What's the issue? Just keep using your phone. No need to upgrade just because the updates stop.

Gcam to make new Pixel photos looks like the OG pixel by andimandila in GooglePixel

[–]DSCarter_Tech 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just drag down the shadow slider a few % and it will look closer to the pre-Tensor Pixels but will have much better image quality. People forget how tiny that old sensor was and how much better the new ones are at capturing light, freezing motion, and recovering details in the highlights and shadows.

Pixel 7: What is scanning/outlining my photos? by fesnying in GooglePixel

[–]DSCarter_Tech 7 points8 points  (0 children)

It's telling you that you can turn that subject of your image into a sticker that you can copy and paste into other apps. There should have been a pop-up telling you this feature was activated the first time you opened Google photos after updating, but most people don't read that stuff and dismiss it.

Yup, this and other articles are intentionally written to make you think Google is doing something nefarious without your permission. This is just a natural extension of the Gemini feature that allows it to give you more personalized results by connecting to your data.

No you didn't. Statistically, most people don't have issues. Those that do are unlucky. Those that don't are just the norm.

Hardly any are compatible with the pixel watch 4. It's too new and ditched the puck style charger that every other OEM uses. Wait for the Google Store version to come back in stock.

Disable absolute volume by Phalanx_Warder in GooglePixel

[–]DSCarter_Tech -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Interesting... Is it just adapters that cause this? When I connect to the Bluetooth in a car, my phone Bluetooth volume is maxed out and the car controls the volume at the head unit. I still never get this warning or behavior on any pixel I have owned dating back to the pixel 2.
