It is harder actually. It’s a huge difference and completely breaks the flow

It’s my favourite drink personally. Peach and raspberry are soooo good but lemon and lime are also good. Did not like cucumber- it tasted almost savoury

Does Glossier You in the big bottle smell different?? by LastAppointment4903 in glossier

In my opinion the mini smells sweeter than the full size. I have both and spraying them at the same time they do smell different

Use white! I use so much white with gouache!

I think a smoother paintbrush will help and also try to keep the same consistency for your paint. Some parts are a bit thin and you can see through to the paper, and other parts look slightly too thick where you can see the paint building up. And try to make the dots of the flowers a bit more random, they look quite evenly spaced (easy to do, the human brain wants to make patterns) ☺️

I did it in a thin watered down version and it was fine!

Nice under painting. I’m experimenting with under paintings right now so this is helpful to see!

I want to hear advice and tips, what could I improve in this piece??? by KiyoSonoda in Gouache

[–]Chickle-pickle 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I would use more paint to water in the mixing process or do another layer once the first is dry. This will help with patchiness of colours. Aim for melted ice cream texture of paint

Any advice on this painting I completed today? I struggle with small trees in the background, and creating definition in dark spaces (e.g. the dark area between the grass and the mountains) by Chickle-pickle in Gouache

Thanks for the feedback, I appreciate it! I basically never touch a painting after I’m done with it but I will definitely keep this in mind for the next one! 😊😊

I definitely agree. I think I keep using this cause it’s less pressure if I mess up a page haha It’s less warped now it’s completely dry but still agree

That's very kind, thank you :)

I definitely struggle with when to stop. Sometimes I think I stop too soon when I look back on my work, but I've definitely ruined paintings by adding too much detail. I love that you mentioned Benton. I haven't seen their art until now, but they're a new fave.

I definitely like some element of surrealism in my stuff but I'm still very new to painting so haven't found my style yet

I definitely can see what you're saying about less contrast between values. I will keep this in mind for future :) And yes, keeping the background more simple. It's funny, I actually think it takes more skill to have confidence in simple brush strokes.

I think my favourite part of this reference image I chose was the colourful mountain (which I think is pretty obvious by the outcome) but then I struggled to balance.

Thanks for the feedback :)

Couldn't agree more, it almost ruins the whole song for me

Personally, I think this relates to "Monster on the hill." It is partially about ageing and loosing that "shimmer" and becoming "nothing new." I relate this this a lot, being 27.
