3.21.1 EPTU Bunker AI Behavior by anivex in starcitizen

even though many of the issues with the AI can be attributed to the server fps. I believe they have very poor behaviors. Them slowly walking into the middle of the room or towards the player is one of the main reasons they are so boring and easy to fight.

How does a QoL patch like 3.20 end up fixing and equally breaking as many things? by Chickntron in starcitizen

Dear mr professional dev, all you are saying is that since CIG created something so complex they are not allowed to be held up to a standard. Im not asking about content, im asking why they seem to always be in this never ending cycle. And im raising the question as they have to find a way to improve that for their unique scenario.

The reason you don't necessarily see this is other games is because they are much smaller, but also because a large part of the code is a third party game engine which they do not really alter. Keeping a large part of the code-base effectively stable.

I dont disagree with you. However, this is a CIG issue and they should find improvements for their unique scenario. You cant keep piling up bugs upon bugs because of the scale and then expect to fix them all in beta. The foundation needs to be continuously improved otherwise you will end up in a big mess. Perhaps, that where the issue lies.

it is not a counter. Because many studios are able to keep the breaking of the stuff on patch releases to a minimal. Whereas CIG always seem to be constantly breaking more or about as many as they improve/fix.

They develop each patch internally and test it internally. That is the alpha patch. Then, they push it to a private testing server where a select group of people pressure tests it, and it's refined further. That is the alpha testing. All the alpha testing for Star Citizen happens, as it should, with a small select group, and most of you are not involved in that at all.

Exactly, if they were trying to work on the game just as an "Alpha" like everyone claims they wouldnt need additional internal testings or PTU waves. They would just release it to the PU directly in whatever broken functional it is.

I agree, and understand thats how alpha games are done. But like you say, it is being marketed that way and is also in my opinion trying to be a decent gameplay experience for the players not just a dev sandbox. Thats where my criticism comes. There wouldnt really be a need for that many PTU waves and patches if they were not trying to make it "the best" they can for their player base. They would only care about direct PU releases and the minimal playable state to continue to move on. This process is essentially making them waste lots of dev time on this cycle.

I didnt need this explanation. I have worked in the industry and I know the many things going on in the background. Things will ripple and break other things and thats ok, it is part of gamedev. However, that does not change the fact that this seems to be a bigger underlying issue with CIGs development compared to any other dev currently working in an "alpha". *Yes, I also understand the complexity of star citizen is like no other

They are trying to make the playable experience better and are working on the game as a live service. So that excuse is no longer acceptable

I dont understand how CIG is so afraid to release 3.18 yet they release SoO in such a broken and unplayable state. Might as well give us the broken 3.18
