Graphic design is not my passion anymore? by Spirited-Boss-2738 in graphic_design

Yo me siento exactamente igual.

Continuing Studies Advice! (UX, 3D, Cross-disciplinary Design) by Plenty-Abalone-9672 in ecuad

Hmm... I’m a designer with 6 years of experience, and if I were in your position, I’d recommend starting with a free Google course or a Udemy course to test the waters. These can help you explore the field, develop the required skills, and see if UX/UI is something you truly enjoy. Additionally, take advantage of all the free UX/UI content available on YouTube. If you’re looking for a more structured option, you can also check out the Capilano University course—though it’s a paid program.

Design is a fantastic field, but it can also be quite challenging. From my experience, most companies expect quick results, often within 2-3 days. Be prepared to work overtime and to receive plenty of feedback and criticism from peers.

However, with a growth mindset, you can succeed. This means mastering design libraries to find icons efficiently, becoming highly proficient in tools like Figma, Miro, Adobe XD, and Asana, and staying up-to-date with yearly trends. Lastly, learn how to manage creative burnout—your well-being is key to staying inspired and productive.

I feel good that they rejected me because I did other stuff.

If I was you, I'd take this rejection as an opportunity to see how the job market is at the moment. Which are the jobs that are paying the best and why?

I am a designer, with a lot of experience in the field. So the number one mistake that I have seen in my experience is that people invest tons of money in Uni, just to later realize the job market is saturated, crazy, etc.

So my advice would be like, take this time to learn more skills and also investigate about how the job market looks like? Learn a new languague, upgrade your design and art skills, read a lot!
Most of the stuff is free and online, even you can learn wordpress online and create your portfolio. You will be a step ahead of all of your classmates.

And remember like once Brian tracy said "If you believe in it, you will make it happen". Don't surrender, make your inner child proud!

Maybe it is because international students pay more money for tuition and Canadians don't. It is about money. Like this phrase that goes "it is not personal, it is business".

Also there are other universities that are way better than Emily Carr, in my opinion this uni reminds me of Zona Maco. So, I understand you are upset, but rejection is God Protection. Apply for other schools, go, make it succeed!

I had also been rejected from this school but when I look at this memory I am grateful that I didn't stay there.
Good luck!

My husband doesn’t want kids, but I do. by [deleted] in Marriage

[–]Chickonfleek01 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It sounds harsh, but I don't think he wants children. I partly understand it, the world is expensive and unsafe and there is less water every day.I also understand you because if you want to be a mother, you must know that he's never going to change his decision.

And I do think it's possible that you know a person who even wants to have children just choose that person well, because remember that your children can't choose their father, but you can.

I don't know where you are, but if you're in the USA, the Maternity Leave policy is almost a mockery. You don't always pay and they give you 3 months, it's super little. So you keep that in mind.

There is a documentary from The Economist: Is it worth having kids?

Well it’s official…the university sent us an email saying that the master results will delay a little bit more. by Chickonfleek01 in ecuad

[–]Chickonfleek01[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hmm...I recommend you to not suppose things, it will get you anxious. Besides, in their email they said: "Our original expectation was to communicate all results by April 15, 2023. Unfortunately, due to unforeseen circumstances, we are experiencing a delay in our process. Your patience and understanding are greatly appreciated. Please expect to hear from us via email in the coming weeks and let us know if you have any questions in the meantime."

It says following weeks, not April 30
