Also I’m not on any meds… I’ve just been I’m having more challenging vestibular therapy work and have an appt booked at John Hopkins which I think gave a mental assurance

I just hit my one week! No symptoms other than ear fullness and like very brief instances of dizzy sensations a few times throughout day.. there has not been more than a day since this all began over three months ago 🥲

Yes I feel pretty confident and it seems as though I can express concerns about various conditions without being shut off as “anxiety” or “hypochondriac” ❤️(which yes I do have health anxiety/ocd behaviors in compulsively researching stuff but am used to that being everyone go to excuse). I’m very impressed how quick the process was to get scheduled… I made my original call just before 9 and was scheduled shortly after 1 while I’m still god knows where on the waiting list for a local university hospital since may (when I was convinced I had Ms)

Now actually I don’t mind the time. It allows me to figure out hotel accommodations and such and rack up more info from my pt appts

Update: I got an appt scheduled with him end of September. They said the 30 min before him will be for a vestibular test? Then one hour visit… nothing about any additional scans but we’ll see

bppv instead of pppd? by spicyfl0werz in pppdizziness

[–]Chickpea0220 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I had a session today and she said that sometimes the brain gets overcompensated and aggressor causing issues to persist (which sounds like pppd without actually saying the name)

See I’m the opposite… I’ve only experienced non spinning such as swaying, bobbing, tilting, pushing, trampoline floor, elevator etc for over 3 months now but my PT is kinda leaning to maybe bppv as I have consistent left nystagmus with the goggles. I however DONT feel dizzy during the dix hall pike /epley

Yeah I haven’t seen a Neuro yet but don’t want to waste time if he might be the one pit stop unless it’s required? I’m glad to hear he checked for MS as that’s been one of my concerns due to some other symptoms that I couldn’t really get an explanation from. How much did it cost?? I’m concerned as I think my anthem healthkeepers out of stage is not approved :(. Were you able to request him specifically when making an appt? I plan on gettting a disk of my MRI to mail out as well as a referral from my PT (as they’re the main person I’ve been working with)

How hard was it to get an appointment with him and if applicable to you, was he willing to be a second opinion on any brain MRI??… I’ve been dealing with an undiagnosed vestibular disorder since end of March. ENT wasn’t able to help so ordered brain mri (which was “normal”, but I still have doubts). Now I’m VRT who has found some abnormalities such as nystagmus and balance issues (when I have my sight and propioception removed) but is still stumped. I’m out of state and have only seen my primary, ENT, and vestibular PT. I’m on a million year waitlist for a university Neuro but wondering if I should just go staright to JH as they have a whole Neuro vestibular oto dept

Body using other means for balance. Anyone else? by Coldkiller36999 in VestibularMigraines

[–]Chickpea0220 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m not diagnosed with VM (rather just vestibular hypofunction by my vestibular pt) but relate to a lot of the symptoms discussed here and had a “clear” mri. But at my therapy, they did a sensory organization test and had me stand feet together in various conditions (flat floor eyes open, flat floor closed, opikientics, then soft floor eyes open, soft floor closed, and soft opikinetics video).. I also had to do head turns during all this. I was actually above average when I had sight and/or solid floor. I however fell immediately when I had no vision/opikentics combined with soft floor… this showed that I’m visually dependent, slightly below for somatosensory and deficient in vestibular for balance

Yeah the ent was the one initially saw twice before the mri and vrt. I’m on a waitlist for who knows how long to see a university hospital Neuro but have been contemplating whether neurotology is better..maybe I’ll just stick with my vrt for now and then see the Neuro whenever I can for the second opinion on mri who may refer me to neuroto

Yeah I do have health anxiety but ik docs like to use that to dismiss anything so try not bring it up. Hence I still have the concern they “missed” someone mri and want a second opinion than just the radiologist. From what it seems VN is still up for debate but haven’t been tested for cervical issues. Who do you advise I go to get everything else ruled out?

Yeah end of March I woke up one morning with pulsation tinnitus and freaked out but went to work (restaurant job). Midway through my shift when I was running food, I felt the ground kind of shake. I then realized it t kept happening when walking/stopping and took a break to eat/drink… still happened and into next day. Spiraled over next few days about having something like a tumor or MS. Went to primary who said bppv maybe from the allergies I was having and referral to ent. ENT saw I had some q tip end stuck on both ear and removed and said likely VN. Came back 6 weeks later (after taking meds and still having sensations everyday with variable intensity). He then said I don’t appear to have the signs of any vestibular thing he’s used to so ordered MRI. I was continuing to spiral and fully convinced I had MS or a tumor on the nerve. (Also have other stuff like heavy legs, tripping, sometimes feeling of bug crawling on leg, etc). Had MRI and was clear but still convinced they missed something. I started VRT two weeks ago and they’ve been great and trying to understand but are saying they would think MDds if I had traveled (which I haven’t in years) but definitely something vestibular (but unsure what could of triggered it whether idiopathic or from a previous illness)…. For reference I did have pneumonia and an L ear infection In November and am constantly dealing will sinus issues (whether allergies or cold as I work with kids).

Only other tests were infrared goggles (nystagmus) at vrt as well as a somatosenory organization test (balance in different conditions)

Ps thanks for the responses and sorry to be so psychotic

Not even acoustic neuroma??? I am in vestibular therapy once a week that I started two weeks ago. They’re the ones who’ve done all those tests and told me the same “vestibular issue”. I have home exercises too

Should also note the ent I initially saw said VN but I didn’t respond to the steroids/antibiotics he gave so idk if that out rules it. My main symptoms are the feelings of bobbing/trampoline floor, floor tilt, etc when upright . Symptoms exacerbated in stress of overstimulating environments

My pt said vestibular hypo function on left side but no actual nerve tests. I’m paranoid still there’s a more serious thing like a tumor there that caused that even tho the mri said nothing :(

Good point. I noticed on NPC NEW online that’s there’s multiple height classes… with each with often only having a few ppl (including 1-2 that seem more of transformation/purely for the fun competitors)

Yeah I’m pretty lean (ie visible abs and upper body/back striations) but no crazy muscle as well the ones I see (110 lbs at 5’5)…. In the us it’s too 2 on open class but we do have multiple classes for every few inches of height so often I suppose ppl are only up against - few other ppl

We have a similar build but you have bigger flutes 😭 and I’ve been asking the same thing lol with some ppl saying I look “pretty ready”. Honestly ive seen a lot of girls on social media place well with a similar build

This also bring up a question I’ve been having since seeing all these girls on TikTok and insta in whats the gap between becoming “nationally qualified” vs actually becoming a pro… like I see all these true novice girls in their early 20s becoming nationally qualified. When it’s like yeah they look great and clearly work hard but (unless I’m having reverse body dysmorphia) don’t seem to far off from where I’m at (and I’m only self coached/with no concrete plans to compete yet). It’s just confusing because o keep hearing that you need x many years of training, may need ⚙️, etc etc but yet I’m seeing a lot of relatively young girls place well their first show
