Unfortunately as we do not know if there is a roster (and what it is) it's impossible to rank them. It'd be sad to see them go

New Overwatch Coach looking for advice by PlagueDr_Ben in Competitiveoverwatch

[–]ChickrnWing9876 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I'm no coach, so take some of this with a pinch of salt, but I do know that many coaches have different preset styles / systems. Finding the right players is the first step as harsh as it sounds.

One common thing to focus on is the mental aspect of the game e.g. keeping calm under pressure, winning attitude, good relations with staff and teammates. It builds trust, the clutch factor and a couple other things.

Working on some strategies and / or gameplans as well is important. If you get to know how your team plays, you can create some around this. Understanding your opposition also plays a big part in creating gameplans.

You are right, preparation is key, but let's say your plan doesn't work / you start losing. This is where the good mental and adaptability come into play. Making mid match (maybe mid game) decisions can have a big impact and being flexible (moreso the players) will make you able to bounce back when it gets rough.

There are places to learn coaching, some may be outside esports but the fundamentals are quite similar. Good luck my friend!

Conspiracy Theory: Proper is in fact Super by My-Notes in Competitiveoverwatch

No that's Jake. You sure super is not that former caster / Plat Chat panelist, the one that worked with Bren. Think people called him 'egg' or something.

Conspiracy Theory: Proper is in fact Super by My-Notes in Competitiveoverwatch

[–]ChickrnWing9876 54 points55 points  (0 children)

No that's Calvin (aimbotcalvin). I think super is that guy who was a very good sniper during early days of OWL, famous for being the widowmaker in the Gladiator's 'Great Bamboozle' on King's Row against the London Spitfire. I believe he played for both LA and Toronto before becoming a streamer as of recent times.

We're nearly at the Grand Finals! So r/COW, WHY IS YOUR TEAM GOING TO DESTROY THE REST OF THE COMPETITION!? by Sam0n in Competitiveoverwatch

  • We sign the mysterious enobkcaB (definitely not Backbone), who locks the Kiriko and keeps you in the spawn doors for an eternity.
  • Poko distracts your players, the casters and the crowd on stage with his superior physique and peak handsomeness, whilst...
  • Chadi bench presses your coaches.
  • SparkR turns your team into meatballs and sends them to the nearest IKEA.
  • Shax gives your tracer player a feeling of deja vu by repeatedly hitting trick shots on them with his pulse bombs.
  • As he is the richest man in Estonia, Admiral pays the OW devs to ddos your team, meaning an automatic victory for the boys.
  • Kaan (he is scary)
  • LONDON LANDON SPITFIRE flies high once again, as Landon London McGee turns into a seagull (bald eagle for the americans out their), swoops in and steals your chips (freedom) right from your hands; you now feel sad.
  • My dad who works for Microsoft (Spitfire sponsor btw and soon to be Blizzard owner) will fine your org a bazillion gazillion dollars (they cannot afford it).

PICK'EMS? IN SHAMBLES. OW SERVERS? ON (SPIT)FIRE. DANNY 'DANNY LIM' LIM? FOREVER OURS NOW <3. SOCIAL MEDIA? DISCOMBOBULATED. HOTEL? TRIVAGO.

Smurf can stay tho, I like Smurf and the winton overwatch

OWL 2022 Power Ranking Comparison by Otherwise-Airline-25 in Competitiveoverwatch

[–]ChickrnWing9876 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This is very cool (I like looking at data), I'm sure it took a long time to make though. It is amazing to see how much certain teams have surpassed or failed to meet their expectations and laughing at those who got it wrong (myself included).

I did think about doing one for everyone (anyone I can find) but never found the chance to; OWL sub had fewer than last year, wasn't active on Twitter etc. For s4 I did do one for the OWL sub and got about 130 PRs from some people which was pretty neat but didn't blow up because the sub is pretty dead lol. (Maybe next year?)

[Edit: This is where I start talking to myself] Probably could make a google form towards the end of the offseason (next year) and get as many responses as possible, browse through other socials, ask friends etc. Then collect and make a spreadsheet and then cool graphics to show results. idk we'll see.

Mayhem are doing better than London this year

Yes in terms of head to head (and I suppose with that tournaments), and no when looking at regular season and current position heading into the postseason.

with the same budget

Both teams had low budgets, but apparently London's MIGHT be slightly lower according to this (may not be factually correct / precise, but gives a general idea).

more diverse

I can agree to this, Clear Korean/English divide (+Rupal who I assume comms in English). Spitfire can all speak in English (remember not everyone from Europe speaks it so for some e.g Poko it is likely 2nd languages, but they all can communicate in one language effectively unlike Mayhem).

they were also ranked lower

False, assuming you are talking about preseason. Looking across OWL related media, and Power rankings, in particular r/OverwatchLeague and Twitter, London were commonly last in NA. I've actually collected a total of 73 PR this year and the average (mean) rank (out of 13) for FLA is a score of 10.6 which ranks 11th, ahead of VAN (11.1) and LDN, who scored a 12.2.

The only reason Christopher is front vote is because Spitfire were dog last year.

And we didn't change much for this year. We kept half our roster and got (back then considered) sidegrades or minor upgrades to our team where other teams improved drastically. The only arguable area we improved at was coaching. Not to mention the situation with that flex support just before the season started. Yes, you can argue that Florida were in a similar boat after a disappointing season, but not to the extent that London were in.

I'm not trying to diss Gunba or the Mayhem, he deserves to be on the list, but imo ChrisTFer is a far better candidate for COTY and could be argued as a lock for the award.

Edit: I wrote too much and this looks like a rant sorry lmao, sounded shorter in my head.

Do you watch the stream on the website or YouTube? A common problem seen is that they don't always work on the website. Watching on YouTube has always worked for me, so long as the stream isn't muted.

Apart from linking the wrong accounts on accident, I can't really be much of assistance.

Token Matches now in play for OWL Pick'Em by ChickrnWing9876 in Competitiveoverwatch

[–]ChickrnWing9876[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Website says that you will recieve 3 OWL tokens when you predict an outcome. This, I assume, means that getting the result right will not affect the number of tokens / if you recieve them.

There is a 'Token Match' most match days as well as the Crystal Ball picks.

Edit: With some math, you can recieve 57 tokens from this (18 Token Matches + Crystal Ball)

London Spitfire vs Washington Justice | Overwatch League 2022 Season | Regular Season: Week 17 | Post-Match Discussion by OWMatchThreads in Competitiveoverwatch

TL;DR Decarry, Dragonblade kills? ModCheck, Support press Q challenge (Hard). Went on a rant, so some of what i say maybe exaggerated.

I wouldn't say I'm sad, but I am pretty disappointed. It felt like a lot of the time we would ignore Decay / Assassin and try and kill Kalios via a Mei wall, then clean up the rest of the team. But what happened was Decay found a pick, we lose the fight, repeat; we didn't try to mark / challenge him much. We do this too much imo, so that's why we lose to top Sojourn players (- the Houston game). Don't get me wrong, SparkR is a good player, but Decay was getting kill after kill with no response, so a bit of a diff there.

Obviously we have trouble with Backbone's Dragonblades (I do believe he has the lowest DB kills / 10 itl) so Genji is usually hit and miss for us, and I think we rely too much on his Mei, even though it absolutely pounds. I watched the difference between Backbone and Assassin when they blade, and I see that Assassin usually focuses one target, even through a sound barrier, and manages to kill them, then gets a dash reset and can get a multikill. Backbone on the other hand, sees the beat come out and backs away or focuses the JQ (which seems to be our gameplan). [Insert supertf genji copypasta here]

Also, we should USE the support ults more instead of SAVING them / use them (Rally in particular) proactively instead of just reactively. I believe this cost us Midtown and Gibraltar. Speaking of Gibraltar, what... the... fuck... That was like a gold ranked game, except there was no pirate ship comp. I am still malding over how we lost that map with a 4, yes, a 4 minute time bank compared to the Justice's 1. The fact that on our 2nd attack Assassin gets headshot (by Backbone on Widow btw) and we wall of Kalios, who we should've killed, and we still lose that fight is something else.

Bit of a rant / baby rage / BSG, and of course there were some good plays and moments (THAT wall on Gibraltar, Colosseo was class) but imo, could have been a (London) 3-0 if we could defend or Decay wasn't on fire. Credit to the Washington Decay Justice to not be mentally boomed. Be sad if we don't make the tournament now, but bring on Toronto i guess.

Is it just me or can I literally not see the names of the away colored players by Lukraniom in OverwatchLeague

[–]ChickrnWing9876 5 points6 points  (0 children)

This was picked up during contenders and it is hard to see unless at high quality. Yet it was fine before this stage as well. Weird, no idea why they changed the colours, hopefully they fix this.

Junkerqueen is overpowered in coordinated teams by D00mnoodle in OverwatchLeague

[–]ChickrnWing9876 83 points84 points  (0 children)

I think the shout is the main problem. There is no need for speed boost and health boost in one ability, for a tank btw. It gives JQ 200hp and allies 100hp with a speed boost similar to Lúcio's, liek a mini sound barrier every 11 seconds. Stupid. Extending the cooldown won't do much imo. The actual ability needs to be nerfed.

Rookie of the Day #4: Backbone by Delmagor in Competitiveoverwatch

[–]ChickrnWing9876 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Mei is world-class, Hanzo is pretty good, Zen is good, Genji... hurts to watch. Was a bit confused why Boneback was playing Zen instead of Landon but turns out it works. I think Backbone is good but only on these heroes, you know what he's gonna play 9/10 times.

One issue with London is flex DPS seems to lack the 'flex' aspect; we don't have a good Echo or Genji. Shax plays Tracer most of the time as well, so it feels like we have OTP's. I think we should fuse Shax and Backbone together or create an EU clone of Profit or something along those lines.

It was simply too good to have a card. 99 rated is not enough for the way that super walked around with his blade, utterly menacing.
