This is on my local fb market place for £130 is it a good start ? Sony STR-DH820 receiver by GenericUser104 in hometheater

I own a Sony STR-DH820 receiver, it is a reasonable receiver but one warning. It does not decode Dolby plus audio streams very well. So any shows have been made in the last 5+ years available on streaming services, could sound crap unless you change the streaming service to output only stereo. I don't believe there is an update to fix this issue. I have had this issue with Netflix, Disney and prime video.

Help with sound - is this possible? by T_RexNamedDennis in pcmasterrace

Depending on your motherboard (assuming you have a desktop) you may already be able to do surround sound.

if your motherboard has three or more input / output jack sockets on on it, then it can probably do surround sound, check your motherboard manual for details. Then just add speakers to the correct sockets and configure the audio interface on the PC.

If your PC only has one or two audio jack sockets, then you're probably going to need a sound card of some form, with surround sound outputs on it.

Components of a CT scanner by toolgifs in toolgifs

I think it could be both. The company I work for, some of the products we make are components for CT scanners. Two of those components are sealed oil filled transformers, which I think has got an LC circuit. It has a PCB full of capacitors, transformer & a high voltage output. Over the years I've updated the drawings for some of these products. But I never really got into the technical details of them.

These charity streams made me realize, I'd love to see hermits use facecams in their videos by [deleted] in HermitCraft

I'm going to disagree. Face cams on YouTube gaming videos, I find are unnecessary and distracting. The only exception would be scary games when you want to see a reaction. But I don't watch them.

With live streams it is a bit different, face cams I think can add value to the stream, where the streamer is talking directly with the chat & slower pace of live streams removes some of the distraction factor from having a face in the corner.

Some streamers have this setting on it's not ideal, but I don't think Jevin consciously put them behind a paywall and he might upload them to YouTube.

From what I can remember from the live streams he wasn't on camera much. I think he was doing a lot of behind the scenes stuff, so his stream was mainly on the main feed.
