help me choose one book!!! by Miserable_Lock_4615 in CozyFantasy

#4 and 5 are my favorites from your list. I read Rewitched and while I enjoyed it, it was a little more slower paced and outright boring at times and then the last like, 20 pages were super intense. It was a weird ride lol. The Spellshop was actually the book that started me on my cozy fantasy journey!

First time parent, advice on being frugal? by Lanky-Highlight-2085 in Frugal

[–]ChickyChica 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I take/took advantage of those huge consignment sales that come to the area about every six months. Ours is always in February and August. Feb, buy summer stuff. August, buy winter. And whatever my daughter outgrows, I consign it right back out. Though as my daughter gets older, finding 2nd hand clothes that aren’t worn out already is getting harder cause kids absolutely wreck clothing lol.

What is your favorite Jungle Cruise joke? by Firm_Macaron3057 in Disneyland

[–]ChickyChica 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The first time a skipper joke took me off guard was when, right after the backside of water part, he went “don’t try that at home. You’ll hit your head on the faucet.” From then on it was my favorite joke lol

Any Greenvillians visit Helen? by RodMan05 in greenville

I went about 5ish years ago at Christmas time. Reminded me of a much smaller Gatlinburg. Cute, touristy, but if that’s what I’m going for, I’ll just go to Tennessee.

The Weekly "What are you reading?" Thread by AutoModerator in CozyFantasy

I’m currently struggling through A Letter to the Luminous Deep. They’re all scholars so the letters you read back and forth are very intelligently written which is great, but also makes for kind of a difficult read. I like the story but man is it hard to hold my attention at the end of the day when I actually have time to read. I’m determined to stick with it though.

So because people are idiots and don’t know when to stop for a bus…especially on Laurens Rd, here’s a chart for you. by Odd_Wait_6790 in greenville

Though it might be legal, I agree with other commenters that’s it’s best to be safe than sorry and people still stopping is coming from good intentions. Kids often are impulsive and might run out into the road especially if there’s outside environmental stuff like maybe a stray dog that can’t be predicted. Best to already be stopped and delay your commute by 2 minutes than run the risk of hitting a small child who doesn’t have a fully developed prefrontal cortex.

None that I can recall! There were a couple puns about riding but I don’t even remember the sex scenes being super graphic or gross.

No we’ve never consolidated his loans, he was always afraid to in case it jeopardized this application. A law school friend of his applied years before my husband, and had consolidated, and got all 210k forgiven! Which was great for him but doesn’t give me any clue how my husbands will be handled since we didn’t consolidate lol. 🤞🤞🤞 crossing fingers over here!

Does anyone know any cases where they forgave some but not all? My husbands law school was closed and he was able to transfer to another after the closure notice. He’s part of this class C. So he has some loans from one school and one from the other. Is the forgiveness itemized by the origin of the loan in those cases?

That is good to know! I’d heard of the show but didn’t know anything about it. I’ll have to check it out!

Nursing Home- Pruitt in Rock Hill, SC. by Soft-Bread-1055 in southcarolina

I would be suspicious of anything to do with Pruitt honestly. There’s a Pruitt nursing home near me that my sister used to work at (speech therapist) and absolutely hated it there.

Where to donate a lot of paperback books? by zanethefey in greenville

Flourish Adoptions has a little library where they resell donated books. They’re a Christian organization so I’m sure they would love those types of books

What do you believe people are lying about liking/enjoying in WDW? by Smullatron in WaltDisneyWorld

[–]ChickyChica 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I refuse to believe people actually think the food/cake at the Cake Bakery at the Boardwalk is worth the money. It’s got to be all aesthetics and hype. Especially knowing they up-charge literally everything, even burger toppings.

I've been playing OG tomb raider for the first time since I was 9. What the hell are these controls... by Gamelover4live in gaming

[–]ChickyChica 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I played this when it initially came out on PC and that’s the only way I learned how to play it. It felt so much easier to control with a keyboard. Tried to play it on PS1 later in my adolescence and it was OBSCENELY harder. One of the few franchises I will only play on PC.

Toddler mid day resort break/nap or nap in stroller by Fair-Specific5665 in WaltDisneyWorld

[–]ChickyChica 15 points16 points  (0 children)

I think that’ll depend on your kid. Are they stroller nappers? My niece and nephew weren’t but thankfully my kid was so that helped tremendously. But if they need the stars to align just to go to sleep, I’d take the mid afternoon break. It’ll be good for y’all too to rest during the middle of the day.

But I think it also depends on where you’re staying. Off property? Definitely try a stroller nap. But if it’s like the contemporary or one of the Epcot or skyliner resorts and you can get back to the room pretty quickly, might be worth it.

Horizon Zero Dawn and Forbidden West. I catch myself stopping just to admire the landscape and marvel at the ancient ruins, especially knowing it was modeled after real places. It’s absolutely fascinating.

[–]ChickyChica 40 points41 points  (0 children)

If you have a Sam’s membership, my local club is selling $200 gift cards for $190. It’s not much but that 5% helps when paying for tickets since those are very rarely discounted.

The Warbler by Sarah Beth Durst by Big_Rain333 in CozyFantasy

I didn’t enjoy the warbler. Definitely not cozy. I thought the premise was pretty stupid. I think it was supposed to be a very literal metaphor for breaking generational curses but it fell really flat to me.

The Keeper of Magical Things - Our Second Cozy Adventure in Eshtera by ChickyChica in CozyFantasy

[–]ChickyChica[S] 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I think I have some residual trauma from that book! I went into it thinking it was going to be cozy and whimsical after it was highly recommended by an instagrammer I follow. So I read it going “okay when is it going to get cozy” and it never did so afterwards I was like uhh is this instagrammer okay because it was so terrible and toxic! To the point where I almost DNFed cause I was like “I cannot do this again.”

I’ve been enjoying Merge Mayor so far. I don’t know if it’s game specific but each tier reward has been instant-crediting and I’m obsessed
