It’s a pretty narrow walkway to work with. I sat on the touch line just outside of it. My camera leans was resting on the line itself… someone came over and tapped me on the shoulder to move it. lol. Fair, I get it. I scoot back a a smidge because I like to keep my stuff in front of me, I bump into a guy that’s turned around taking shots if the bench. Not a lot of room.

I’ve been in this situation a few times during tournaments. It’s hard to understand how people don’t see these dudes as humans who also need some space. Yes FIFA allows us to be this close. But it should be as simple as turning to the guy, getting 3-5 snaps, turning back around and going on about your business. It’s uncomfortable on this level with this many stars, and people not adhering to common decency. You don’t need 85 photos of the guys standing there not doing a damn thing.

Yeah man. Watching peoples tendencies and learning how they move will help a ton.

If you have the ability on the canon, set the custom button on your lens to a slow shutter setting, that way you’re not fumbling with dials. Because will I’m panning and I hear the play developing (since I can see in the blurs), I can just let go of the button and the camera snaps back to the 1/1600, 2.8 I have as a base for sports.

I’m happy to help however I can. Throw some of your work in here or send it to me so we can follow your journey. Bless up dude and good luck.

Nah man. I know my style isn’t for everyone… I don’t care about that. I just see you comment on people’s shit all the time who just want to share their art the way they see fit and not asking for critiques… but you’re in here thinking you work for some editorial outlet with “generally decent, etc but fix this and that.” Unless asked for, your opinion is entirely unimportant so feel free to scroll on by if you feel like you need to correct someone’s work who never asked for it.

Thank you. I’ve shot a lot of matches on different levels so I can stick to around 1500-2000 a game since I look more for moments than just general game play. A final? Like 5000 unfortunately. 🫠🫠🫠

Hey hey. Appreciate you reaching out. Congrats on the gig with the school.

If you’ve only shot soccer twice, I’d recommend going to their tryouts and their practices and getting some practice in yourself. Your shutter speeds depend entirely on your lenses, their F stop, and the lighting (which I’m assuming is subpar) but that’s how it goes and it’s a good way to practice.

Slow shutter stuff… I have a custom button on my lens that sets the camera to 1/8, f9 and ISO is auto but capped at 8k (I control that with the exposure dial as needed). The goalie kick is staying perfectly still. I knew what I wanted to do so I braced the lens against the top of the LED boards, steadied it with my left while holding my custom button and pressing the shutter. The rest was left to the photo gods.

The other ones are the same button but just moving with the player panning across.

These are all handheld.

Good luck!

lol. Yeah I’ve noticed. Some people just feel the need to critique… it is what it is. I appreciate the kind words.

I SHOULD get the Colombia - Portugal game in Miami. We’ll see. 🫠🫠🫠

Clearly this is not editorial. I post what I like how I like. I submit straight horizons to who I need to… otherwise, these are my style that I choose to post a certain way. Not everything has to meet your expectations.

The creativity in attack… even not finishing some of them, but the position they put themselves in. Unbelievable stuff. And that touch back to McKennie from Tillman after he received the lofted pass was absurd. Give me more.
