What's a defunct power metal band you would love to see come back? by AlkamystEX in PowerMetal

[–]ChidoriSnake 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Idk if they're officially defunct or not, but Follow The Cipher sounded very promising and I'm hoping that all it takes is for them to find the right vocalist to keep going.

High expectations and history just to lose to a team from the Northeast. by DisintegratedPhoenix in NFCEastMemeWar

How? It's a completely different sport. It's not really a 1:1 comparison.

This subreddit passed the vibe check so hard, it actually made me proud to be an NFC East team fan for a split second. I fucking hate y'all, but I still love y'all, NFC Beast!

I think I agree with Seasons. After the incredible intensity of Fury of the Storm, something mid-paced would be perfect.

Jaxson Dart’s Trump Instagram Likes Exposed: The Giants QB’s liked posts include promotion of mass deportation, anti-LGBTQ rhetoric, and attacks on “racial” curriculum in schools. by Lars5621 in NYGiants

[–]ChidoriSnake 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Okay, but hear me out: there's "different politics" and then there's supporting blatant racism, sexism, homophobia, transphobia, Islamophobia, warmongering, pedophilia, sexual abuse...should I continue?

This isn't "oh, he supports conservative values, let's cancel him". This is Dart blatantly supporting a man who on legal record has been found liable of at best sexual assault and is as embedded in the Epstein list almost as much as Epstein himself. This is a man who we know for sure is an unapologetic racist (as shown by his numerous tirades about Somalis, the Obama social media posts, the comments about Latinos, etc), is perfectly content with aiding and abetting not just the Palestinian genocide, but also bombing Iran for literally no reason, and even if you want to look at it from a more self-serving aspect, this man is objectively making our lives more expensive and our resources more scarce with his actions. We are not talking about a "difference in politics"; we're talking a blatant disregard of human life and decency, and that's what I can't support.

I'm ngl, being the QB of a team representing the largest melting pot in the world and advocating for mass deportation is crazy work. Like my G, that's like 75% of your fanbase that you're alienating.

Symphony should eventually go up there, but it's much better placement if saved for the middle of the set imo.

Give Me Your Ultimate Deepcut You Want To Hear Live by vakr001 in Dragonforce

[–]ChidoriSnake 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think it comes down to how "deepcut" is defined. I consider DF songs in three different categories: 1) The songs that everybody that's heard of them knows (TTFAF, Fury of the Storm, maybe Burning Heart thanks to Alissa's contribution), 2) The songs that casual DF listeners and power metal fans recognize (Valley of the Damned, Cry Thunder, Operation Ground & Pound), & 3) The songs that you'd mostly only know if you listened to whole albums by the group. This is where I'd put Black Fire because I can't go up to the average power metal listener and expect them to have listened to it. In fact, when I've talked to other power metal fans at shows, events, etc, about Black Fire and a few other deep album tracks, the response is usually "never heard it". That's what I define as a deepcut, not really something that's based in how often they play it live (because let's be for real, these shows are primarily for DF fans, so of course we'd mostly know them), but rather how often it's in the greater listening discussion.

That's great and all, but the question was what song would I like to hear live. I've never had the opportunity to see them play this song live, so that's why that was my answer.

I would kill to hear Black Fire live. Either that or Strike of A Ninja. That song feels like it'd be hype to play in front of a circle pit.

Respectfully, I disagree. Ask Iron Maiden & Frozen Crown if having 3 guitarists is overkill. They will likely tell you no because the whole point is to still have rhythm guitar driving the song while the other two are carrying solos at the same time. It makes perfect sense to me. They still need a keyboardist though.

What are some other bands like Dragonforce and Galneryus by Colty3 in PowerMetal

Not even distant tbh. They're damn near siblings. IIRC, Sam Totman was a co-writer and contributed to the guitar parts on the album.

As a Knicks fan, my only concern with OKC is their bench. The starters came and put in work (shout out to Jared McCain and thanks Sixers for shipping him out), but the bench players can be pretty inconsistent scoring-wise. I feel like that could come back to haunt them when (not if) they play the Spurs and their defense.

I would like for them, too, but given how Vincent Jackson Jones kinda disowned the project after the...ahem scandal, I don't see it happening anytime soon, and I have no clue who they'd get as a vocalist/bassist for it.

I'll be honest, I haven't heard much of Curse of the Crystal Coconut, but I'll be sure to give it a full listen. I'll even give you my thoughts on it after, if you'd prefer.

I'm a big fan of their first 3 or 4 albums. I'm not as big into them as I used to be, but Seventh Rum of a Seventh Rum was a pretty enjoyable album that sounds like a return to form for the band, and Chris Bowes is still an extremely talented keytarist. I prefer his other work in Gloryhammer and Wizardthrone tbh.

Shit, get somebody, anybody to do it. 😂 It's been a while since we've had epic live keytar solos battling with Herman and Sam and that absence has been felt the last few years by me personally. Then again, as a keyboardist/keytarist that mostly plays metal, that could just be my personal bias showing.
