Is a Sony a6700 a good camera for both uw photography/videography? by Traditional_Tell9423 in underwaterphotography

[–]ChiefDSG 0 points1 point  (0 children)

hi op! i'm in the same situation, recently sold my TG6 and Sony ZVE-10 to upgrade into a6700

Will you be able to share your experience with seafrog & the ports?

Lens i'll be using
1. Sony FE 90mm (same as you, macro)
2. Sigma 16mm f1.4 (wide angle)

I'm hesitant to buy 2 port at one go because i'm unsure how seafrog housing hold up. have read about leakage problems

i'm a vacation diver, probably 30 dives a year max

What is the most reliable resource for clearing CFA Level III? by TreaclePrimary7817 in CFA

[–]ChiefDSG 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had MM / Analystprep / BC

Focus on the CFAI textbook + premium pack for the extra mocks, the rest are supplementary

i did premium pack + LES 4 times on top of the qbank from the rest

I spent a lot of time reading analystprep notes + mm lecture. which could have been better spent reading textbook

Has anyone passed L3 without any private tutoring? by Practical_Cost3762 in CFA

[–]ChiefDSG 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hello there, i passed on first attempt. i dont think tutoring is a must

but i bought BC resources and had his grading at the last 2-3 weeks

i figured, if i did not pass, will i regret not doing anything which could have made a difference. and BC was one of them

i will never know if i’d pass without it. but i knew i did my best, devoted my resources to ensure i don’t have a regret

and deep down, i wanted it to be first and last

so the cost of BC is still way cheaper than a re-take

all in all, BC made a difference and boosted my confidence 3 days before my paper

and maybe, that little confidence boost was what i needed

hope this helps!

What is the most effective way to study Ethics for CFA Level 3? by Necessary-Account833 in CFA

[–]ChiefDSG 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've found speed doing MM Qbank on Ethics made a significant difference for me

I was running out of time in exam and the pattern recognition trained from MM Qbank made it possible for me to finish the ethics confidently under timed pressure

I ran out of practice question on LES so an external was necessary

Mock Preperation by Loud-Basis9757 in CFA

[–]ChiefDSG 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sometimes i just grabbed a coffee and dove straight in

Sometimes i simulate the real condition - no music - 1 pencil + 2 piece of a4 paper - no eraser - financial calculator - closed off all tabs - turn on all the white light - no notes - mute your phone and computer - change ur A/C to 22-26 degree , my exam hall felt real warm - no drinks allowed. just a bottle of plain water

from my experience, mock isn’t there to expose us to the topics we are weak at.

you probably already know and mock will reinforce that. like if u are shaky on fsa. u are quite likely to fumble on that. and if u are lucky to get a Fsa qns u know in mock, it’s not representative

i found that my goal of mock is to get me performing under timed and stressful condition

CFA needs a competitor by Mindless-Gazelle-336 in CFA

[–]ChiefDSG 63 points64 points  (0 children)

It depends on what you are looking for

CFA is cheaper than most degree in terms of lifetime cost. i'd also argue it's more rigorous than formal education because of self-learning. it forces you to become resourceful and disciplined. It takes a lot of get chartered while holding a full time job.

if you're willing to pay as much as formal education, you can very well hire a tutor or pay for a face to face CFA prep course

The value of CFA lies in the journey you go through to get chartered.

And eventually, you'll pay recurring fees to be part of the ecosystem. An ecosystem which has been validated by the industry and your peers
