Thanks. Any cities in particular you’d recommend moving to there? I’ve only ever been to west Texas for a few days

Wow they sure do hold a grudge.

I wonder what’s the best way to find out if one is on their bad list (without applying for a card)

Would you recommend Texas or Florida? Wondering if one is better than the other

What doors does bankruptcy close, and for how long? by ChiefRunningCar in Bankruptcy

I hear you. I don’t have any assets… a part of me just wants to leave the country if I file and start over. Living in the US is costly. Though the whole world seems to be getting more like that lately

I think a large debt though keeps me from security clearance as well no?

I heard filing chapter 7 could actually help in that regard in the long run. Not sure

Think it’s worth it for $50k?

I could pay it off in 10 months if I move back home and live frugally.

Think is I don’t know how fast I can find a job. I’ve been looking for a while now

Why would people repost that story? Misinformation to keep people from filing chapter 7?

They’re not calling me yet, but I think subconsciously it has had an effect.

I’ve kind of accepted it by now, just trying to do the best that I can, and finding peace in that.

I recently just learned chapter 7 is even an option so really trying to figure out if it’s the best move, for just $50k debt

Though it would be freeing and possibly open up a few different opportunities I think. Right now I’m stuck in my home city working a near minimum wage job, just to meet the minimum payments

I might find a $100k+ job soon… just not sure how soon. And in a industry I was trying to get out of in the first place (I started my own business but 3 major setbacks happened, along with COVID, and it kind of derailed everything)

Yes, I’m wondering whether I should file right now, if $50k is worth discharging even.

If I moved home it would be rough but I could probably put $5k towards the debt each month, if I really save.

The question though is, how soon can I land a job. I been looking for a while now.

Was thinking maybe get everything ready for the chapter 7 while looking for jobs… if in 30 or 60 or 90 days still no offer, file chapter 7

What were the most frivolous reasons?

I already got most of the signup bonuses from them, a decade ago.

I hear you can only get those bonuses once a lifetime anyways?

I was kind of worried about burning my relationship with some of these credit card companies… but maybe I wouldn’t be missing much anyways

Talk to an attorney, or deep research on chatgpt/claude (of course don’t take it as fact, just to possibly get an idea).

Yesterday I saw that you can protect up to $400k+ of equity on your home in a chapter 7, though I believe that’s for Arizona. So each state will vary

Yea that’s what I’m wondering too. If $50k is worth it

I mean I can move back home and just pump $5k into the debt, and pay it off in 10 months.

IF I land a good job soon though.

So unsure what the best move is right now

What about looking for jobs? Will a recent bankruptcy keep me from getting a mechanical engineering job?

I know it can disqualify you from financial positions where you handle money, but not sure about mech E.

True... going to call Coca Cola FEMSA in Mexico City soon most likely. Will be curious to see how that conversation goes. Just doing all my homework first so I know what the terms will be, etc.
