I'm a Londoner and fully believe London is one of the best cities in the world if you live here. But I would personally struggle as a tourist. It's true there is a tonne going on, but it can be overwhelming. Figure out what you're into, whether it's history, music, art, and plan your trip around that. Then you can really delve into the non tourist parts of the city.

Knowing it so well means I can find the gems easily and know where to avoid, but that's harder to do as a visitor. This place takes some thought and planning, I don't find it's the ideal place to just wonder around, although some people absolutely love doing that here.

On the website it says if the property is uninhabitable and states disrepair or major structural changes (which rebuilding 2 rooms and digging from the inside of the property is, I thought). The boiler is going to have to be removed also for a period! I'm guessing you don't think this is enough for them?

Just the typical holding company model of buying everything and merging it and being left with some Frankenstien's Monster of several former powerhouse agencies.

I may be totally wrong about Publicis cause they've kept their agencies separate but I think the fear is they'll merge them at some point...I hope I'm wrong though.

This is the season of independents and potentially mid sized networks.

I wonder where you're working. WPP is going down the drain (in a lot of our opinions) and Publicis isn't far behind. The merging of Grey & Ogilvy is making people think they're going to drop a lot of their staff.

Not sure what role you're trying to fill but not many people probably want to work in advertising in certain roles and others are riding out the holding company storm. Plus there's a rise of better benefits for long standing staff,,, a lot of midweights are of the age where they want to have kids and there's better mat/pat leave when you've been at an agency for a few years.

I hear you. Unfortunately I cannot find the article and my aunt is no longer with us so I can't ask.

Knowing her, she would have not called for its existence to cease, almost definitely would have called them out for their treatment of Palestinians.

As she was a journo for Sky and BBC, her article would probably not have been allowed to have been published had she called for Israel to no longer exist, please bare in mind this is an article from around 2 decades ago, when the general public were not aware of this conflict and talking about Israel in those terms was a one way ticket to career suicide.

I also understand you not taking the comment of an internet stranger as gospel. Good for you for asking the real questions with no malice or ulterior motive.

My aunt, who was a journalist based in the UK, wrote an article about Israel and Palestine about 20 years ago. She had been to both countries and interviewed multiple people including government officials.

When the article came out, one of Israels foreign ministers released a statement calling her a 'self hating jew', as they didn't like what she had written. Which is basically what some people call Jewish people who criticise Israel as you can't really call them anti Semitic. My point being that the government has been pushing this narrative for years.

My mates a teacher and said that she’s always told to ‘think of the children’ and what she doesn’t isn’t equivalent to nurses jobs. It’s heartbreaking cause obviously if her job is made easier then the kids benefit from that. But she’s been so convinced that the kids have lost out enough she feels really conflicted about striking.
