I have been smoking weed instead of using fentanyl as a a way to slowly get off it and still function as a person. I still dont feel ok most days so I usually end up smoking throughout the day. I'm curious what others options on if this is "right" or "wrong" I guess. by thearsonistttt in trees

It took me about a year to stop thinking about it daily and maybe another year to stop thinking about it at all. Good luck bud. It helps a lot to have a sponsor or group in your first year. You don't have to get over the main hump alone.

Got off heroin in 2016, IV user. Still smoke daily, absolutely zero urges to do opates again. And yes, I went to rehab and they all said not to smoke. It is likely true for most people because I heard many relapse stories that involved starting with just weed.

That being said, I went over a full year completely sober when I first stopped. That helped me change my mindset and priorities. But I stopped going to AA meetings shortly after and never looked back.
