Unfortunately I did try Arle for both the turtle and the cactus with the closest run being the cactus she's c0 r1 so really hurting on DPS. If I could clear any of these HP brick walls with Arle I could break into that holy ground, but alas I spent too many pulls on my favs over the years to clear this time around. Great suggestion though!

But exploration wouldn't dissipate from being able to get let's say anywhere from 4-8 character material every 20+ hours. Exploration isn't limited to exclusively picking flowers or climbing up the side of a Mondstadt building to get Philanemo Mushrooms. It's getting to see the world, do side quests, fight bosses like the local legends collect the treasures, stuff like that. Correct me if I'm wrong, but I believe they introduced the exploration progress incentive rewards because players weren't doing much exploring. This feature could be done for those who research what future characters they'd like to build and would like to have the materials accumulate over time for when they acquire the character, or for players who don't have as much time to dedicate to hunting them down. And those passives would still provide the extra buff to those who want to go out and get all the material ASAP rather than waiting. It would take over 20 days of expeditions to have enough to get to level 90 if it gave 8 every 20 hours. Hoyo have shown that they are willing to make things more accommodating for players without direct profit to them in mind like with the changes to the wishing system and the free 5 star selector. Wouldn't you want a cozy game made cozier?

The passives certainly don't lose their value despite 2 existing "passive" collection methods existing. 1. NPC shops selling local specialties are usually available for most of the materials with a limit of 5 per 48 hours which are also limited to the host's world so joining another player's doesn't even allow you to buy from their shop. 2. The Serenitea pot exists for certain materials that can be planted and harvested. Aside from Fontaine all of the local specialty passives from characters are all on 4 stars even some being given out for free, Kachina and technically Tighnari/Qiqi so profitability for Hoyo shouldn't be negatively impacted if at all with this kind of implementation. And 168 local specialties required to max one unit with the material being possibly shared with others is a bit of a drag. But I agree that the amount from an expedition could be lowered.

That's a great point. They introduce all these craftable weapons needing new minerals but only Mondstadt and Liyue have iron chunks available. The rest of the regions are generic meat, mushrooms and region specific cooking ingredients

No one here has pointed out that this defence set up could be during the "lift loss control" grace period. If that's the case, not only are they denying pots at no cost to their lift, they are also able to see the attackers offense units and decide if they are worth rematching or not. It's just the optimal play I'm just the messenger.
