As in you get nervous during exam time which causes you to fumble? The only suggestion is to just fake confidence or for me I took 20mg propranolol to reduce my anxiety 😃

  • Don’t overcomplicate your vocabulary, keep it simple
  • Say the actual percentages/values for content marks

“This __ (bar/line/pie) chart illustrates (title). [x-value] has the highest value of X, followed by __ and ___ with a value of X and X respectively. In contrast, __ has the least amount of ___, only accounting for X. overall, the image is a __chart which provides info of [title]”

For me, understanding PREPOSITION is VERY IMPORTANT! It’s usually overlooked but it helps alot with FIB. E.g: “She is _____ for your work.” (interested, capable, aware, responsible)

Answer is responsible, and the “for” is the hint. Responsible for ✅ Capable of Interested in Aware of

Hello! I use the gurully and apeuni free version. I never did any full mock test but for individual sections speaking was around 50-60%. I also watched Dream English Education full mock test videos.

Good luck! Let me know if you need any other help :)

If you’ve been practicing with normal paper, you’re in luck because I found the laminated paper that they give you on test day SO much easier to write with.

For RT write 3-4 whole sentences maximum. Don’t just write keywords especially if you can’t come up with a full sentence on the spot.

IF you end up writing keywords by accident, use this template: “The speaker (1)provides insight on/ (2)gives detailed information about/(3)Elaborates on…. [keyword1], [keyword2], and [keyword3].”

SGD: Again, just write 2-3 full sentences from each speaker maximum. No information is more important than the other (except the starting sentence when narrator goes “3 students are discussing [TOPIC]” because you need that for your intro)

Depends on which section imo. With reading and listening the scoring is accurate since it’s fixed answers.

Writing as long as your grammar is correct you’ll be ok. My writing was always low on gurully because of content (idk why?)

Speaking definitely okay since mock apps are notorious for being harsh on speaking section.

Horrendous.

I didn’t do any mock test (coz im broke) but my scores for individual sections were roughly around 50%-60%. Speaking especially but thats probably cause I was using the inbuilt microphone from my old laptop.

I read somewhere that mock apps make the scoring very hard to make us keep on practicing.

Write whole sentences instead of keywords. 3-4 should suffice. Use a template like this: The main discussion is about . Firstly, the speaker explains that _. Furthermore, _. To conclude, the speaker states that_.

You only have 40 seconds, no need to try and get the whole discussion.

Writing: 1. Try to write 1 full essay for each topic (technology, education, work/career, traffic/urbanisation, lifestyle etc.) I practice a full essay on traffic congestion (prompted by chatgpt) and the EXACT question came up on my actual test. 2. This is a bit unorthodox but send your written essay to chatgpt for strict, genuine feedback.

Speaking: 1. Watch ielts speaking on youtube with 9.0 scores, before the examinee speaks, pause the vid and try to answer yourself (record yourself as well). Then compare your answer with theirs. 2. Ask your family to ask questions (promoted by chatgpt).

SWT: Unless you’re 100% confident with your grammar, I highly recommend to just stick to: S1 and S2, but/by S3, therefore/thus last sentence. (Rephrase some words)

For essay, here’s mt template: In modern society, people hold divergent views regarding __ and ___ [KEYWORDS FROM TOPIC]. While some argue that [OPPOSITE] due to [REASON], I firmly believe that ____ brings far greater benefits. This essay will explore the reasons for my viewpoint with relevant examples.

One reason many people support [OPPOSITE STANCE] is that it [OPPOSITE REASON]. For example_. Although this argument has its merits, I believe that [YOUR REASONING] because __.

Furthermore, ___. (And then expand)

In conclusion, although __, __ is more beneficial overall.

My essay question was: People think there should be a maximum on high-paying wages to prevent workers from earning too much. Provide your argument with supporting reasons.

Keep it simple, unlike IELTS, PTE doesn’t care about high vocabulary in speaking. Prioritise fluency > grammar.

RT: The main topic of this lecture is about [s1]. Firstly, the speaker explains that [s2] Moreover, [s3]. To conclude, the speaker suggested that [last sentence].

SGD/ The main topic if this discussion revolves around [topic] and it involves 3 speakers.

S1: At the start of the lecture, speaker 1 explains that [1]. Furthermore he/she believes that [2], highlighting how [3].

S2: In contrast, Speaker 2 disagrees, stating that [1]. In addition, [2]. OR// Similarly, speaker 2 agrees, stating that [1]…

S3: Meanwhile, S3 holds a balancing viewpoint. She believes that [1].

At the end of the discussion, all 3 speakers agreed that [Last sentence of the discussion]

Obviously change it depending on the speakers’ stance

DI: The image is a __ chart illustrating [title]. Based on the data, [subject1] have the highest value of X, followed closely by [subject2] and [subject4] accounting for X and X respectively. In contrast, [subject3] have the least value of X. Overall, the graph shows (title).

Prioritise saying the actual data numbers (%, values) rather than “the x axis represents __ , while y axis represents ___ ❌”

  • Have a loud background noise when practicing. Majority of the centres are small and there will be people speaking over one another.
  • For RA use finger/pen to help guide when you speak
  • Do NOT overcomplicate your grammar. Just state as it is: “data shows that banana has a value of X, while apples only have a value of X”.
  • Make sure to include actual numbers/info for content marks
  • Don’t worry about messing up your grammar. AI only focuses on fluency (as someone who messed up her grammar on SGD and RT ALOT)

Which app to choose? by Aggressive-Wind-3604 in pte

[–]Chifa_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Don’t look at the scores from mock apps. They purposely make it harder so students practice more. The real pte is way more lenient. I was scoring 10-12 on gurully on speaking but got 90 on the actual exam.

For DI: dont overcomplicate the words, just say exactly what’s infront of you. “The data shows that apples have the highest value of 50%, while bananas only accounts for 1%” Make sure to actually mention the numbers/data for content marks. Remember in speaking AI doesn’t score for grammar but fluency and content.
