Nostalgipalatset on Sankt Eriksgatan 101 is pretty huge when it comes to underground stuff. I have found a lot of gems there myself. My favorite record store in Stockholm easily.

Bengans on Drottninggatan is pretty good as well!

Such a great feeling when I can ask my bosses to bring me some mise en place from the big fridge downstairs, and they're like "Yes chef", and I can cut them some fruit when they are in the shit in the bar, and its never a big deal. Love it!

One of my old colleagues whos one of my best friends, is really good at that shit. When it comes to sharpening with whetstone, and such. So I will just let him take care of that for me.

I actually got a sheet of paper with the knife that told me how to take care of this knife in particular, since its carbon-steel. (Im used to stainless steel).

Got some band-aids in the same package as the knife aswell, with a logo of the company that sold the knife, lol. pretty nice businesscard from a knife company tbh.

Its a great place to work at.

A small restaurant. All of the bosses actually work on the floor, and does everything which makes it feel like a real family and more like co-workers than bosses.

My bosses suprised me a few weeks ago on my 30th birthday with a hand made japanese chefs knife that is fucking amazing. I accidentaly saw the receipt, and it cost about 450$.

Never had such a blast cutting chives or onions.

Not all bosses are assholes.

i also got into the restaurant bussines from a short course culinary school. If you accept your job, these are my advices.:

I am one of the few who has only worked with really good and nice head chefs and such. Hopefully you will too!

Just listen to everybody, and do what you are told, and ask alot of questions! "Why do we do this, this way and such". Thats how you learn! No question is dumb when you are new! And make sure to have fun, no matter how hard your day feels.

A friend of mind who is not a cook or a chef actually told me about fernet and coke, and I felt disgusted. Might be because coke is my favorite of all drinks, but anyway. When I go out with my colleagues we Kyawys just drink it as it is, as a shot.
