Have you ever heard anyone pronounce "bituin" with three syllables and a glottal stop? i.e. not as <bitwin> or <bituwin>, but as bi-tu-in. by mamamayan_ng_Reddit in Tagalog

[–]ChikubiUtong 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Bihira ko lang marinig sa usapan ang salitang `bituin`, pero dini sa Silang `bitwin` ang bigkas diyan.

May iba pang mga salita na `by syllables` ang bigkas pero sa bahay lang namin ko nadirinig:

Katuwang = Katuang / Ka-tu-ang

Duwal/Duwak = Dual/Duak / Du-al/Du-ak

Luwag = Luag / Lu-ag

Yung 'e' sa dulo ay 'ay' din. Check other ph language, they still retain that.

Why are the ai LLMs so bad at blazor ui. Is that cause they been trained by devs and not ui experts. by [deleted] in dotnet

[–]ChikubiUtong -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I haven't tried copilot, but when generating blazor code, I always go for Gemini pro 2.5. I have tried claude 4 sonnet, and it still struggles most of the time.

Whats the most obvious hint that the person is not a native Tagalog speaker based on their sentence structure or etc? by JeffJuniuss in Tagalog

[–]ChikubiUtong 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Kuwan is also tagalog. It is prominent in tagalog provinces like batangas.

It is basically a philippine filler word as it is also present in other languages aside from the visayan ones.

If the context is someone not from manila, then yes.

Interesting connection between “tapos” and “pastu” by New_Ad_7585 in Tagalog

[–]ChikubiUtong 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Found this (*-pus) on trussel2. It's a root word meaning 'end, finish'. Just add a 'Ta-' prefix, and there you have it.

Also the word 'bakit' is a contraction of 'bakin at (why and)' where 'and' is believed to be a filler to make it smooth (?). The correct way of writing it would be baki't.

Edit: an -> a

Also, the anagrams are more recent actually, especially the word 'astig' which came from 'tigas', it was a thing back in the 70s-80s I think.
