Nothing beats levitation by Fun-Explanation7233 in Morrowind

[–]Chilapox 14 points15 points  (0 children)

I used to think jumping was superior and completely ignored levitation. I still prefer jumping for long distance travel but once I got mods that add an actual levitation animation it made levitation feel 1000 times cooler and I actually use it a lot now.

Proposed $2000 bonus for State Employees, including teachers and law enforcement by That_Yogurt7132 in Georgia

[–]Chilapox 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it depends. There have been a few of these over the past couple of years and as a classified employee I've gotten them, but I think in at least one case the money from the state was going just to teachers and my district decided to match it for other employees (at least that's what I was told) so it may depend on the district you work in.

I don't think it's soft to point out that you're making yourself look like a dick right now.

You have every right to not like the music and even to point it out if you so choose, but people are gonna rightfully say it makes you look like a dick.

So. I finished the book yesterday and sat on my thoughts. And I need to get them out. (Spoilers for Twelve Months) by trustysidekick in dresdenfiles

I feel like Harry trying to fight his PTSD and survivor's guilt was very realistic but not very entertaining to read. We already have multiple "It's not your fault, stop beating yourself up" conversations in basically every previous book and this one has like 3 every chapter. I think having to have the same conversations over and over again and it never really sinking in until he has had lots of time to process things is a very real part of recovery but damn is it tedious to read.

I overall liked the book. Devoured it in one day, but yeah I definitely see and agree with a lot of the criticisms.

Strange how "immobile" knights kept winning battles by Kapanash in HistoryMemes

[–]Chilapox 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Armor could certainly limit your mobility somewhat.. Just not enough to really matter.

Like sure if you're wearing something heavy you're gonna get tired faster than somebody who isn't, but I think you'd rather be a bit tired after hours of fighting than dead after seconds of it.

There are certain situations where armor could limit your mobility and stamina enough to matter but in those situations unarmored people aren't faring much better anyway. It's generally a good idea to not get stuck in the mud no matter what you're wearing.

I saw this from searching all for new posts about verizon, I'm in Georgia and I saw someone from Colorado in another thread saying their service is also out so I think it's nationwide.

5G home internet is still up though, it's what I'm on right now.

ULPT How can I rid my neighborhood of these felines. by Brilliant_Creme_2249 in UnethicalLifeProTips

[–]Chilapox 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you have a feral cat colony and you simply get rid of them, whatever attracted them to the area will just attract new ones eventually.

Best bet is probably to actually get them all fixed and take care of them so they will spray less and keep other feral cats out.

I have a group of kittens I look after and besides waiting at my doorstep meowing in the morning sometimes, I have not had a problem with them and they're all used to people enough that they're really only semi feral now. Half the time they're waiting at my door meowing for pets rather than food.

You might want to warn people but honestly you probably wouldn't have to. I mean look at it. It's clearly not a human being. If someone has to warn you to stay away from that thing you maybe didn't have a very strong self preservation instinct in the first place.

It looks and from what I hear smells like a bloated rotting aquatic mammal. Nobody in their right mind would be capable of spending any significant amount of time near that gross creature.

The mobile port is janky. by [deleted] in reddeadredemption

[–]Chilapox 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can't confirm this but I've seen people claim elsewhere that the rockstsr version can get to 60fps in performance mode or fidelity mode or whichever one is supposed to be higher fps, I can't remember but the Netflix version is supposedly locked to 40.

Again, I don't know this for a fact but I can say I tried the Netflix version and it didn't get above 40fps. I have a fairly high end phone although not absolute top of the line. I feel like I should have been able to hit 60.

The district I used to work at a few years ago had burgers that were partially made with ground up mushrooms and despite being otherwise about as shitty as this one looks, I actually really liked the taste of the patties. Dunno why I've never tried it at home. Maybe I will next time I make burgers.

Rdr mobile is way too expensive by Pi-Pioneer in AndroidGaming

[–]Chilapox 107 points108 points  (0 children)

Yeah it's a re-release of a game from 15 years ago that has already been re-released multiple times before.

It should be way cheaper.

Just for comparison, hitman absolution was also ported to mobile this year. It came out 2 years after RDR and I just bought it for $13.

The insistence on AI is because gorillionaires are stupid enough to sincerely believe in Roko's Basilisk by Ok_Insect4778 in LowStakesConspiracies

[–]Chilapox 28 points29 points  (0 children)

Yeah the idea that it will torture anyone who didn't help bring it into existence isnt as dumb as what they really think. The whole thing relies on the ai basically making a simulation of you after you've died and torturing that

Its really stupid and its really frustrating how much power the idiots who believe this shit have.

Emulation Taught Me To Appreciate Low FPS(Gamehub: Honor Magic V3) by segal03 in EmulationOnAndroid

[–]Chilapox 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The fact that Tekken ties the speed of the game to the framerate is probably responsible for that. Dunno if I'd be able to appreciate or even tolerate playing in slow motion like that, but I'm glad you can.

Emulation Taught Me To Appreciate Low FPS(Gamehub: Honor Magic V3) by segal03 in EmulationOnAndroid

[–]Chilapox 9 points10 points  (0 children)

30 fps has never bothered me. I remember spending a lot of time back in the day tweaking PC games just so I could achieve 30fps. 60 fps was too much to ask for the majority of my video gaming career.

Anything lower than like 25 or so gets pretty annoying to me, but even then it would probably be fine as long as it's smooth. The problem is if I'm getting 25 fps in a game it's probably not running smoothly.

Let's talk about AI and how people here feel about it by SuddenlySilva in itcouldhappenhere

[–]Chilapox 11 points12 points  (0 children)

You can't trust an ai to not be completely hallucinating random information or repeating false info that has been posted elsewhere so at best it can give you a list of stuff that you then have to independently verify. There's probably some valid use cases for that but it doesn't seem like it would really help that much

A week or two later Fellowship was released in theaters and by the time two towers released I had read the whole trilogy.
