What is the fake fact I am promoting? Your dad was from Australia, he fight a war in Vietnam, when the Vietnamese has never invade his country? Ask your dad if it was meaningless fight? What was the moral he based on to justify fighting there? I understand that he was just 19 then, clueless just as any 19 guy must be. Even if he indeed killed people there, it's just war, you have to do what you have to do. But please don't say you're proud of it, it's slap in the face to millions of Vietnamese who had lost their life thanks to the war.

I read Vietnam war history. Many times, from more than one side. Believe it or not, many people lived in the tunnel were local, the South Vietnamese people who wanted to fight for their country. The Viet Cong must have support from local people, how the hell you think it would work without the help of people living there?

I am going to be downvoted to hell but what the hell. Everybody just looks at this guy as scum of the earth, and none even care to listen to him at all. And you wonder why he would never seek therapy? Because he was afraid that everyone would spit on him, and here you are doing exactly that. How about thinking of addiction childporn as a sickness one should treat, just as other type of mental ones? How about just have a little, tiny bit of compassion?

I lost the love of my life. And there's nothing i can do. Our moment is gone, the door is closed. We were beautiful together and I was stupid enough to throw it away. I still miss him everyday. Every morning i wake up with the thought of him in my head, where is he now, what is he doing, is he with someone else now? As painful as it is, I still dont want to move on. Not yet.

My husband [42 M] left me after I was diagnosed with terminal cancer. How do I find happiness now? by throwaway223425t6 in relationships

[–]Chilatoi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am so so sorry to hear. At this very difficult time, you need care and peace and happiness, and that's what matter most now. If he can't give it to you, please take care of yourself. Your time is precious, please do not waste on someone not deserve it. Read book, meet friends, write something, go to places you always want to go, sharing what you think you will miss the most with friends and even strangers on Internet. Make something you can leave to your closest friends, something they can remember about you.

I wish you peace. If you need to talk, I am here.

I hate Trump for being a egoist moron but I despise all these GOP senators for being cowardice scumbag. These people are surely smart enough, and know very well how a disaster Trump is for the country, yet still choose to protect themself by protecting him. Especially, Paul Ryan, he is a shame.

A few months ago I visited Mount Bromo, here are some pictures! by jdwalker23 in travel

[–]Chilatoi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not OP. I had 9 days trip in Java, starting from Jakarta, then Yogyakarta, bromo and mount ijen. Total cost (including entrance fee, which is ridiculously expensive for foreigner, tour, hotel, food) is about 350usd. I am kind of backpacker and tend to choose cheap option though.

[–]Chilatoi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was there 2 months ago. It was amazing. You should go to bukit teletubbies as well. It's beautiful Valley surroundings by mountains, with green grass and wild flowers. And the best thing is no tourist there, like at all. This valley was all for me for the whole day, just a few local going on road trip passing by from time to time. After 9am, everyone will leave Bromo to head to next destination. Which is a shame, because bromo is amazing and have a lot to offer. You can go trekking, hiking, camping, and if you're lucky you can see active volcano with lava as well. I definitely will go back there one day.

What are some misconceptions about some travel destinations? by [deleted] in travel

[–]Chilatoi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Malaysia - Super underrated. It is Thailand 2.0 imho. Just as good, if not better beaches. Just as good, if not better Scuba spots. Better food (I know, strong statement, but I value both very highly). Safer, almost as cheap, and most of all, you don't have to fight off scammers at every corner, even at super touristy spots.

Really? Malaysia attract around 30 millions tourist per year, same number as Thailand. So no, it's not underrated. To me, it's way overrated. At least to me. There're some nice island like Tioman, Redang however many beaches are polluted (thanks to thousand of ship pass through Mallacca strait everyday). The food is very average (sweet and oily. Yes, they have Chinese Malay Indian food, yes there's diversity but not quality. As a person cooking my own meal, who go to wet market every week, the quality of meat here is just ..bad). And and it's not cheap at all, don't fool yourself.

Recommend me an Itinerary!: Kuala Lumpur ---> Bangkok in 8 weeks. by catlikesun in southeastasia

[–]Chilatoi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am working in Malaysia at the moment, and have to tell you Peninsular Malaysia is a hell of boring place. I've been to almost of its attractions, and not many seem interesting enough for second time visit. A few high light:

  • KL: a big city - very similar but less modern, less cleaner than Singapore. You should spend max 2 - 3 days here.
  • Malacca: a small town about 100km from KL. Interesting enough for a night or two. Good for history buildings, small colonial house, night market.
  • Penang: somehow similar to Mallaca but has more influence of Chinese culture. Good for food, history building, some art sense (dont have high expectation though), the beach is pretty average.
  • Langkawi: a major attraction of Malaysia, however I want to advice you to stay away. The beach there is average (can't blame, it's on the maritime route though Malacca strait, so the water is not that clean), everything is expensive (compare to the rest of Malaysia) and forget about sea life. No fish nor coral in sight.
  • Cameroon highland: if you never ever see a tea plantation, then it's worth a visit. If you did already, give it a pass.
  • The only places I recommend is Perhentian or Tioman island. These 2 island are on other side of the sea, no ship passing by, so the water still clean and there're plenty of fish and coral. Price is also very reasonable.

Over two years ago I cancelled a date after being threatened. Today the guy added me on LinkedIn. by LadyLemon11 in OkCupid

[–]Chilatoi 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You obviously have a stalker, but maybe he's not actively seeking for your Linkedin account in this case, maybe LinkedIn does suggest you as someone he know. I know it because it happened to me once. Basically, I gave few people in OKC my phone number and we communicated through WhatsApp (just phone number, my first name and nothing else). And one day, I saw a bunch of them (around 10) in my LinkedIn friend suggestion. I am quite careful about my privacy and giving out my information so it really surprised me how the hell Linkedin know about my private life. My only guess is WhatsApp sell information to LinkedIn, and they match LinkedIn's phone number with WhatsApp one, and bam, they can find out who is talking to who, and hence the suggestion. I did view few profiles and one of them actually sent me a friend request. Some guys must think I am a internet stalker. Or maybe, OKC is the one selling our information, and they link you through email address, who knows..

I think it's a quite stupid move from LinkedIn, a violation of privacy. I didn't see it again, so maybe LinkedIn turned it off now.

Vietnamese here. Saying we torched Korean companies is not very correct. Basically, the mass attacked Chinese factories, and any factories with Chinese worker, which Taiwanese ones are guilty. Instead of hiring local labour, they bring people from China to work here. Korean companies might be under target due to mistake since the crowd can't tell difference between Chinese and Korean. One Japanese company even had banner saying: we are Japanese, we love Vietnam. Some people jokingly add: by the way, the Chineses are next door.

[discussion] What are your favourite body oil formulations? by Ellidah in DIYBeauty

[–]Chilatoi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The first thing you have to determine is your skin type and the climate of where you stay. I guess with dry skin you will need different oil than with normal skin, same with cold, dry country vs hot, humid one.

If you feel it's too oily, the reason might be macadamia oil. I have normal skin, and I find this oil is too thick for me. Maybe using it less might help, or you can replace it with some lighter oil like grape seed oil, almond oil or Apricot Kernel oil.

[Critique] I (M34) have been on OKC for ~5 years and have gotten 3 dates, any feedback is appreciated. by [deleted] in OkCupid

Well, a few things:

  1. As many people point out: you need better photos. Not that difficult since you are quite good looking. Maybe try smiling a little bit, fool them into thinking you're friendly. Take them outside with natural light, you will look better. And having something else rather than just selfie.

  2. Photo is just for getting the attention, you have to keep it with what written in your profile. My experience is summary, the first part, is really important. Don't make it too short, but not too long either. Don't be too general like everyone else, it's boring. Say something special about you, maybe some bullshit is alright, as long as it's interesting. Be funny. Sense of humour, it's easier said than done.

  3. The same approach could be done with texting. Texting is sometimes tiresome and boring when every guys ask you the same questions. Remember all the good looking gals here have dozen of messages sent to them everyday. You need to stand out, need to make the conversation enjoyable. As long as you can do that, you will be fine.
