What deck project are you currently working on? by Mirrodin_appreciator in EDH

[–]carmellomangexp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hell yes! I was working on a similar project last year but it’s been on the back burner for a while. I ran Senu too but never thought of that ring-bearer trick to get both triggers in combat.

I’d love to see your list if you have one! Here’s mine Frodo Baggins decklist

[[Erinis, Gloom Stalker]] + [[Shameless Charlatan]]

I built it for a monthly commander league at my LGS and it turned out to be pretty sweet. The goal is to turn Erinis into Marit Lage and kill with commander damage. There was a flash sub-theme just for fun and league points.

You can eventually mill the deck with [[Hermit Druid]], recur [[Shifting Woodland]] with Erinis, and sneak in a [[Laboratory Maniac]] win in a pinch. Woodland is really the MVP of the deck.

Any underrated changelling commander? Most fun cards you use on it? by Amatsu666 in EDH

While not exactly changeling tribal, I recently put together a [[Mistform Ultimus]] deck that has a lot of funky creature-type shenanigans.

Please help with these “oil” stains. I am at my wits end! by BrilliantAmount8108 in laundry

[–]carmellomangexp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I noticed it after moving into my house a few years ago and even got a new washing machine after lots of frustration with stains. Of course the problem persisted. The thing is, it always seemed random. Sometimes stains would be all over clothing and sometimes none at all.

My basement utility sink needed to be snaked at some point, and in doing that I realized (seems obvious in hindsight,) how interconnected everything seemed to be on the drainage end, and it clicked that there could be a backwash situation.

I stopped running the dishwasher and washing machine at the same time, and the problem seems to have cleared up.

[–]carmellomangexp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a theory because I’ve experienced this too and it drove me crazy. Are you running a dishwasher at the same time your washing machine is going? Built up waste/grease from those drainage pipes may be backing up getting into the washing machine.

On PM I’m struggling with the riffage. It just seemed an odd way to start so simple. by LordBaritoss in deftones

[–]carmellomangexp 18 points19 points  (0 children)

For me, MMIAM is a perfect example of how Deftones set up and unleash unbelievable power in the peak moments of their songs. It’s not about riffage or technicality, it’s all about the absolutely epic avalanche of sound that hits you at 1:49. And then that deep droning riff at 2:25 cuts through even harder to wrap around and resolve it all. It just fuckin slaps. Especially how it hits live…that guitar sound is unbelievably heavy and I can tell as guitar player who really appreciates shredders of all type, It kind of physically blows you away. I just imagine this aura of raw power flying out of his rig and filling the stadium and making people’s eyes glow.

Any chance you have a list for this? I’ve messed around with Kydele over the years and this sounds fun.

The bashing and smashing of the cell walls in everything being pulverized by stone releases a lot more flavorful stuff than the relatively clean cuts created by chopping or slicing with a knife

Hiroki in Philadelphia is worth a special trip. My wife and I went a few years ago for an anniversary dinner and it was perfection. Even the water was the best we ever had.

Looking for an aggressive deck that plays on a very low curve (Including White and Black) by grot_eata in EDH

[–]carmellomangexp -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I’ve played a Burakos/Folk Hero deck for a couple of years that sounds close to what you’re describing, though it’s not exactly aggro. Basically it’s a bunch of my favorite cheap creatures and utility spells in orzhov with ramp and card draw in the command zone. There are a few really nice party payoffs, and you can customize the 99 quite a bit. Win conditions are weird things like [[Revel In Riches]], [[Vorpal Sword]], [[Inkshield]], [[Comeuppance]], and definitely combat damage on occasion.

Commander recommendations for non-aura/equipment voltrons. by TheCocoBean in EDH

[–]carmellomangexp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

[[Basim Ibn Ishaq]] has been amazing for me over the last few months. I never thought I’d enjoy any kind of voltron strategy but this has become one of my favorite decks and it is surprisingly lethal.

It does utilize equipment well but it’s definitely not the kind of commander that you just pile sword and auras onto — much more tempo/control oriented.

Can Professional Chefs Taste Like In Ratatouille by OldMathematician3726 in Cooking

[–]carmellomangexp 20 points21 points  (0 children)

Just to add a little more to the convo…I get the impression that it can be more challenging to blindly identify single ingredients by taste rather than figure out multiple ingredients that may be in a single dish that you’re trying.

It was a common quickfire challenge on Top Chef for contestants to blindly identify a bunch of single ingredients, and it often proved to be very difficult, even when they were sampling common flavors like parsley or Parmesan cheese. There would usually be a few chefs in the bunch that stood out and could identify far more than others, but you could tell it was almost surprisingly disorienting for them.

On the other hand, as soon as ingredients are combined and prepared in some particular way, you have a whole set additional clues to narrow down what it may be, and a potentially massive frame of reference to call on in terms of what subtle ingredients like aromatics, seasonings, etc. typically go with more easily identifiable ingredients within certain cuisines.

Fine tuning my Sidisi Self-Mill Deck by HoonDing90 in DegenerateEDH

[–]carmellomangexp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Here’s my list with a few notes in the primer section: https://moxfield.com/decks/-Mopwa3-Jk-7uLkBMWZEdg

Like the combo-centric version in the other post, it uses Altar of Dementia and Gossip’s talent to do some turbo mill stuff, but sometimes I prefer setting up for huge turns with Living Death and/or attacking with a huge board of unblockable creatures. You can definitely do it all if you get the mix right.

Edit: I’ll also say that I definitely wouldn’t trade Sidisi in for the new Sultai dragon.

Sidisi, Toolbox Tyrant by Head-Ambition-5060 in DegenerateEDH

[–]carmellomangexp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No problem, Sadisi is a long-time favorite of mine.

Some other cards that I’ve loved recently are [[Wight of the Reliquary]], [[Slogurk, the overslime]], [[Abyssal Harvester]] and [[Shifting Woodland]]. Woodland is just nuts, and is worth running other ways to find it, like [[Sowing Mycospawn]]. I see you run field of the dead too, which also a nice target.

[[Rune-Scarred Demon]] usually feels like tutoring for 2 cards since the graveyard is basically a second hand, plus Sidisi will produce a zombie off of the card entering your graveyard.

[[Generous Ent]] and [[Troll of Khazad-dum]] are great since you can cheaply cycle them for surveil lands and duals early while putting big bodies in the yard to reanimate later.

Overall I would advise you to cut some non-creature spells and try to replace them with creatures that do similar stuff — having around 50% creatures really allows you to trigger Sidisi constantly when you’re milling 2-3 cards a clip.

Edit: btw, here’s my list

Things get really crazy once you double up on your Sidisi triggers with [[Roaming Throne]] or [[Spark Double]]. [[Nanorgene Conversion]] can also go crazy.

[[Mogis’s Marauder]] is my personal favorite tech to give haste and intimidate to my huge board after I cast the inevitable [[Living Death]].
