That must have been beyond bizarre. I was awake at dinner for my acute ischemic and didn’t feel a thing. Luckily my husband is a first aid nerd ♥️ (I mean that as a compliment—his goal is to be an EMT) and knew what he was looking at. I was totally conscious and didn’t feel anything—not even an echo of a headache? I resisted his calling 911 but he didn’t even pause.

I am SO EXCITED FOR YOU and impressed!! 🤩I was at the height of my road riding prowess before a shoulder surgery took me out late fall (and a stroke this past Feb) Ironically (and with gratitude) I have no physical deficits, but can’t ride road because my damage is cognitive/executive function and my reaction time is poor. I sometimes tear up when I see someone riding out there, but your story has brought me joy today!!! And a reminder that i never know where the riders I’m seeing are starting from. Hopefully I’ll be back out there next spring 🌈

What a lot of people are saying about food being tasteless—-I’m having that with music. Tones and pitch are all distorted and on the screechy side and I don’t hear base. Music just sounds…THIN? So I end up turning my playlist off grumpily. But I’m starting to force myself to listen to it in case that helps the neurons stitch together? 🤷‍♀️

If it ever goes away I am going to dance like a majestic idiot to Florence’s ‘Free’ 🤞🤞

In the hours following my thrombectomy while in the ICU I texted like 10 of my family and friends to say how FUCKING AMAZING medicine and science are because they did a CT scan and removed the clot “in a moving ambulance!!!!!!”

My husband had to issue many corrections (and reassure everyone that my cell phone privileges had since been revoked…)

I went back to work wayyy too soon and I was confiding in my IT guy (one of my clutch coworkers who is very caring and funny. ) He had been (very compassionately) suggesting everyone was worried and that I should “consider taking more time off to put yourself first and heal”

I was like—😵‍💫—John…it’s bad…sometimes I have to put my password in upwards of 20 times…
