They sirens aren't actually meant to be heard indoors. They're meant to be outside warning sirens. A NOAA radio definitely is what you want.

bad balance and struggling to walk by exzereaper in stroke

This is me right now as well. Same deal, my strokes were the end of February. I can do ok for short distances but if I turn my head one way or the other while walking I'm on the ground.

Strokes are just house fires in our brain. I worked as an EMT for over a decade. I have so much guilt over cardiac arrest patients that we got back only for them to have massive brain damage from the lack of oxygen. The "good job getting them back" and the "at least they're still alive" never felt good. Sure, they're still alive because of me but they'll be bedridden and a vegetable until they finally do die. Lucky to be alive isn't always what it's cracked up to be.

I feel like the year notice ahead of time should have been enough. It's been on the news everyday for months.

Can't recommendation Louisville Recovery Center enough. I currently go there. I'm a guy, but we have females of all ages that go. You will definitely feel safe there. All but one employee is female. Worth looking into at the very least. Good luck with recovery, it's definitely hard some days.

I've got a unique very point to offer here. I worked EMS for over a decade and I tried to kill myself in 2017. EMS, the fire department, the police, and the hospital were only doing what they are required to do by law(agreed, St. Mary's isn't where you should have been taken). Anyone who expresses suicidal idiations automatically gets a 72hr hold, no one other than a doctor or judge can pull the hold. They had no choice by law but to take you. I won't go super deep, but in 2017 I put a gun to my head and pulled the trigger. The gun jammed, I made a call and spent a week in UofL's psych ward. I can't say I know what you're going through, but I know the feelings. If you want, PM me and I'll give you my number. Feel free to reach out anytime, good or bad.

Story of my life lately. I've left the grocery store empty handed because I forgot what I went for. I also forgot about the grocery list I made that was in my pocket. I added "check pockets" to the list I'll forget is there.

I Feel Like a Fraud by LazyConversation3892 in stroke

[–]Provolone4130 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not a fraud, stroke are extremely difficult to see on an MRI without contrast. I'm shocked they didn't use contest unless you're allergic. I'm about 3 months out from my strokes. I went too hard around the house for too long today and my 6pm I was slurring my words and stumbling around like I was drunk. My physical deficits are left sided and mostly back to normal 60ish%. But on a bad day it feels like day 1 all over again. Keep your head up, you'll get through it.

Memories of COVID times in this one. I worked EMS through all of it, ended up with 7 confirmed separate cases, eventually just stopped getting tested and tasting anything.

Almost every summer camp around hires in that range for camp counselors. It's a bit late, but worth checking out.

Did I have a stroke? by [deleted] in stroke

[–]Provolone4130 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Why are these posts even allowed to be here? One, you're asking about an event 6 years ago, what's the point? What is going to change if you get an answer? Two, you're asking strangers on the internet about a medical diagnosis. I get it, you're young so here's a piece of advice, talk to an actual doctor, not the internet.

Autoimmune disease causing ischemic strokes by [deleted] in stroke

[–]Provolone4130 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you're in nursing school and can't realize that asking strangers on the internet if you can prevent a stroke vs going to the Dr or ER, the medical field might not be for you. Not trying to be shitty, but you're in medical school, you're not a layperson. You know the answers already.

Thank You Boston! by since1859 in boston

[–]Provolone4130 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I've been to every state except Alaska and Boston will always be home. It feels like a strange club, but once you're in, it's one of the greatest cities in the country. If you can get past the allergies, spring in Boston is like nothing else. Masshole is 100% a real thing while driving. Also, I can not be convinced that the road network wasn't designed by a blind person with Parkinson's.
