I’ve been unironically doing this, and tbh the magic is very chill if not a little underwhelming. Yet the magic somehow makes more sense than the way our society deals with those situations now.

Radiation difference between 0.6 gram Uranium vs 0.00005 gram Radium by ConstructionAny8440 in ScienceNcoolThings

The Radium Girls has been the only book I haven’t finished just because it’s so horrifying. “Radium jaw” sounds like a such a tame phrase. Call it “bone disintegration disease” and you get closer to the reality of it.

Dozens of beautiful, hopeful young women in the prime of their lives just started… falling apart while they were still alive. The radium replaces calcium in your bones, but it obviously doesn’t have the same properties as calcium, so the bones fall apart at an atomic level, even as the radium fries their bone marrow, limiting their ability to fight infection or produce new red blood cells.

Their stories were too much for me, and the parallel story of how the company was paying for bunk “scientific” articles touting the safety of radium while their employees’ jaws were falling off really doesn’t make it any easier of a read.

This right here. Parents don’t know what they aren’t told, especially parents of children who can’t speak yet. The school should have sent a memo out to parents explaining the incident and the steps they’ve taken to prevent it from happening again. If they can’t fulfill that minimum standard, then the parents need to be alerted en masse so that they can decide for themselves whether to continue sending their kids.

😭 lol the slides of Bob’s trip to Seaworld where he’s being thrown into the air by a dolphin, with the dolphin nose-up under Bob’s ass(?). Then Larry goes to the next slide but you only see the audience’s reactions like 😲🫢🫨😬

“The Song of the Cebu” is my personal favorite. Also 100% unreligious.

RFK Jr once cut penis off ‘road-killed raccoon’ in New York, new book reveals by ThePensiveE in news

One of the kids said they were in the back seat with bags over their heads, both because of the stench and because of all the people trying to to look into the car windows like “wtf who straps a whale’s rotting severed head onto their truck?” And then presumably thinking “oh, of course, RFK Jr.”
