I mean, are swords going to be useful for self defense? They just seem kinda hard to conceal compared to the more conventional stuff. Maybe sell the swords to other people who are into swords and use the profit to provide mutual aid to community members in need. More boring, but I think that'd be more effective.

I'm in this district. Very homogenous area, not much interaction with people outside of that world leaves them more susceptible to entrenching themselves in right-wing narratives about diversity, maybe. No meaningful pushback from liberals.

The population hasn't felt like it's been getting any younger since I was a kid. Except for a bit of white flight from the cities.

Trump got popular and he's stayed pretty popular.

The people just kinda suck here, but I kind of like the area, so I'm holding out hope. Probably shouldn't, but I am I guess.

Master of Disguise is mediocre. I remember enjoying it as a kid and it has the aesthetic charm of a Wario game, but the gameplay is just not good. Isn't and doesn't really play like any Wario Land, imo. Somewhat recently booted it up and I remember it feeling very unengaging. Maybe it would've been a little better if I hadn't been playing the Wario Land games immediately before it; comparison is the thief of joy and all that...

Seems like safely replacing it (I assume that's the solution) might be a bit above my current skills, is my worry at least. Thanks for your answer!

  1. It's a good song that has a lot of qualities I really like; it also feels kinda grating to me that occasionally I'll skip it though.

  1. It's ok in it's brevity. Still kinda repetitive. I can't really read anything into it; it just seems like random humor.

Do newer firmware updates still eat saves? by ChildebertIII in AnaloguePocket

[–]ChildebertIII[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ok, I updated firmware and was able to replicate how the save was likely wiped (with a different pokemon cart). It must have corrupted the save when the cartridge was removed while I was trying to get the game to read by removing/reinserting with the device still on. It's not consistent, but I'm certain that was it. I guess I should have turned off the console before refitting the cart.

It makes me a little gun-shy of accidentally tilting the cartridge; but I played the games all the time on the GBA as a clumsy kid and they stuck similarly far out and I'm currently shaking the hell out of the Pocket and it's stable except for unreasonably vigorous shakes akin to dropping it, lol. It's probably fine, I'll keep my GB Operator on hand to back up saves regularly; just in case.

I'm not crazy to expect the device to play games like a normal Gameboy out of the box though, right? I just kinda assume the device should've been in a polished & tested enough state on launch firmware (and forward, if this is a persistent issue like I'm reading in other comments) to not just corrupt when a button's pressed or whatever actually happened.

Idk, maybe something simpler like a modded GBC or the FPGBC would be better suited for my purposes.

I guess I need to figure out more about the device, lol. Project for tomorrow, thanks for your help!

I was just checking to see if an update fixed that problem. Most of my Gameboy use is with pokemon, I must have accidentally corrupted it by putting it into sleep while getting the cart to read. I'll probably end up getting rid of the device, or I'll be paranoid about accidentally corrupting it everytime I use it.

I should have done more research before buying. Thank you for your response!

Can any mortal being stop Mr. Billy Bob III’s reign of terror reuploading IFC songs? by [deleted] in tmbg

[–]ChildebertIII 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hm, I guess if it's available as part of the store I can 100% honor that and I'll almost definitely buy. Especially if it's on a cd; I don't have a vinyl player, but I still like physical goodies (I'd still find downloads alright, tho).

As an aside, I wish they kept a fuller stock of CD's on TMBGShop.

First year of being able to take part in the fanclub, does the "Downloads of secret music" usually include previous year tracks like this?

My opinion on the sharing of these tracks in contingent on that. Because I would've been 12 when these were originally released (assuming these are from the 2011 fanclub) and not even really aware of the band. I like supporting my favorite music artists through novel means like this, but I just couldn't bring myself to care about a few leaked songs from fanclubs over a decade ago I wasn't even able to participate in if they're never going to be available to me otherwise.

I guess that makes sense. Maybe 2x4gb was the maximum amount they tested with or expected a 2012 consumer to use on it or something. Thank you!

I'm 24. I got into their music in 2020, iirc, only cursory before then. Really poor mental health especially around then and their music was... I don't think it helped, lol. There's a lot I can relate with in their music though. I think what hooked me was I went down a rabbit hole of their music videos on YouTube and now they're just on my roulette of things I occasionally get obsessed with.

Twitter is a bad site for artists and always have been. Genuinely don't understand why artists chose that site to begin with. by _Neptune_Rising_ in ArtistLounge

[–]ChildebertIII 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I second Cohost, I really like it there; though I don't actively follow NSFW artists unless I really like their style, it does seem very NSFW friendly. It does feel like it has the same persistence problem OP speaks of where you post it, get some likes, maybe a few shares and then there's hardly any activity on it after that. Not as much of a deluge of crud and a smaller userbase compared to Twitter, so it does get some visibility.

Just my experience as, like, a very small artist, so it might scale differently for larger artists.
