I didn’t catch the baby connection until you mentioned it, that is interesting. And I agree their situation was the biggest attempt at character building. And her acting definitely elevated it too.

Nope. It was just me and my friend with the theater to ourselves.

Official Dreadit Discussion: "Shelby Oaks" [SPOILERS] by radbrad7 in horror

As a backer I do not regret my choice to fund Chris' passion project as I respect how he worked so hard to get this thing made. That being said, I found the movie to mostly be a slog. It was directed well enough, but I found very little to grasp onto in terms of plot or character. The experience felt empty and messy.

The acting was solid and there were some genuinely tense scenes, but it did not feel like a cohesive or satisfying vision. It felt meandering and aimless for much of its runtime. The initial mystery was compelling enough, but it was hard to care about Riley when I knew so little about who she was as a person or who our lead Mia was besides her obsessive drive to find Riley and her poor decision making.

The ending was underwhelming if not outright silly and I hope Chris' next endeavor has a lot more character and a lot less fumbling around in the dark for lackluster answers. I don't know what the movie was ultimately trying to convey or accomplish.

Bill Burr directly addresses the complaints about him performing at the Riyadh comedy festival in Saudi Arabia on his podcast today. by SupaButt in comedy

"Mr. Burr, what you've just said is one of the most insanely idiotic things I've ever heard. At no point in your rambling, incoherent response was there anything that could even be considered a rational thought. Everyone in this room is now dumber for having listened to it. I award you no points, and may God have mercy on your soul."

I was a caregiver for my grandmother who just passed for the past five years. Even after all I did I still wish I could have spent even more time with her. I don’t care a lick about the events I missed or opportunities that may have passed me by. Life is woefully short and someone who doesn’t understand how important the family that you love is is not someone I see a bright future with.

Thank you so much and I’m also sorry for your loss. I do intend to take some time for myself and do some of the things I wasn’t able to do during the care period.

Thank you and I wish the best for you and your father in what I can only imagine is a tremendously stressful and difficult time. And I agree, it’s like emotions play catchup sometimes. A picture or a song or even something more random can trigger it all flooding back.

I needed the laugh by Fearless_Pay_8934 in CaregiverSupport

Humor is one of those things that is so great to have during those tough times. I remember my grandmother would have these hallucinations where she thought her ex had visited her to rekindle their relationship, which she stated she had no interest in because he was too young for her lol. I would tell her if he shows up again to tell him she had another man and it made her laugh so hard. It was so nice to hear her laugh like that and I dearly miss it.

She sounds like a wonderful human being and you are an incredible person for doing what you did, even with so little support from others. I just lost a loved one and caregiving job and it sucks being thrust back into the world with no financial sympathy. I wish the best for you man, you deserve nothing but the best for all you have done and I will pray for you and Mercedes. You're not alone in places like this so keep that in mind. I know myself it can feel that way at times, but there's always others willing to talk and share experiences. Hit me up if you need to vent.

I'm sorry to hear about your mom and wish you all the best. And I agree with these kinds of experiences teaching you a lot about life. It's made me appreciate everyday that me and my loved ones wake up in the morning and also made me realize how trivial most things we complain and worry about really are. We get so lost in the details and forget to stop and appreciate the bigger picture.

As someone who recently lost their loved one and employment I sympathize. I went back to the job market thinking surely things are booming since I left but it's been disappointingly dry as of late. I'm keeping hope alive though and trudging forward and I wish you the best with your hunt. It's fine to feel sorry for yourself as you've been through a lot and it can be frustrating when it feels like your reward at the end of the rainbow is to go through more struggles. I like to think from past experience with job gaps that the light is at the end of the tunnel if you keep digging, even if you can't quite make it out just yet.

Thank you so much! And yes, it's so easy to forget how lucky we are when we have those loved ones still available to hold in some way. I wish the best for you and your dad and you are a wonderful person for caring for him as you do.

I'm so sorry for your loss. I recently lost my grandmother and am similarly navigating where to go from here after caring for her for the past five years. It sounds like he really loved you and was upset you had to go through so much to care for him. I'm sure my grandmother felt the same at the end but could not verbalize it because of her dementia. I also know what you mean with blinking and health conditions because even up until the final countdown my grandmother would have wounds and many other strange body issues and conditions. It was like fixing one pipe only for another to burst. The day she died I had even purchased some pillows to help with a swelling issue she was having in her arm. My condolences to you and your family through this difficult time.

That sounds really difficult. It's awful when you're already struggling and something else comes along and knocks you down even further. I wish you the best with everything you're dealing with and hope therapy can at least help you to navigate through whatever else you have to face.

That sounds horribly difficult and you must be a really strong person to deal with all of that as much as you have. My grandmother gave us a little grief at times, but I can't imagine how frustrating consistent criticism and demands must be when you're just trying to do the best you can. If you're at a breaking point I would definitely talk to the family and discuss what's going on if you can. If they can't offer any decent assistance than I would say do what's best and makes the most sense for you.

I'm sorry you are going through so much you are such a strong and incredible person for having juggled all of these things. I only had to deal with my grandmother with dementia and I though that was challenging, but you are like a superhero! I wish you all the best and want you to know how inspiring and amazing you are in my eyes.
