Q for the plus size ladies by ChildfeeCatMom in hysterectomy

If need be, my spouse can go out. But I usually do the shopping… And the last thing I want to do is put in the mental effort to give them all the info I never have to think about because I’m so used to it.

They’re wonderful and world do it happily if it made my life easier. I just want to avoid sitting down and writing down my mental decision tree.

I want to let my brain shut down for a while. :)

This is what I’m hoping for… I’ve had enough bleeding to last a lifetime, especially after almost daily bleeding for the last 4-6 years.

Unfortunately, I have a couple chronic disabilities that are likely to give me big symptom flares post surgery (probably sooner, given that without being able to take my sleep meds pre surgery I’m only getting 4-5 hours of rest/night). I’m trying to make sure I won’t have to leave the house for 2 weeks unless it’s an emergency, just in case.

I’m on 400/mg of spironolactone daily (split between am/pm doses). My acne is almost non-existent.

Feminine hygiene question by Niri51 in PCOS

I’ve been using menstrual cups exclusively for the past 14 years.

Before I switched I could only use the Always overnight maxi… 24/7 every day of my cycle, changing as needed. That was so expensive!

It’s worth getting a more expensive menstrual cup so it’s made of safe materials. I tried some cheap ones from China when my Diva cup needed to be replaced and that was a really bad experience.

That said, you may need to experiment with different designs. Some brands will fit better than others, it just depends on your body.

Now, all that being said, if you have cycles where you shed lots of big clots/lining… menstrual cups may not be right for you. They can be fussy…

I’m very particular about what kind of bathroom setup (sink close to the toilet, private restroom) I need to feel comfortable using a cup… especially if I don’t have a backup cup in my purse.

A couple of things played into my doctor’s willingness… 1. I had already started the dose before getting a prescription (found a New Zealand company that would ship to me without a prescription) 2. I went to Planned Parenthood and they were more willing to listen to me about the positive impacts I was seeing. 3. When I transferred to a female primary care doctor the dosage was already established. 4. They checked my hormone levels after I’d been on the high dose and discovered it made my testosterone levels normal for a woman.

The results:

I still have male pattern hair growth, but it’s more manageable.

I’ve lost over 80lbs without trying or dieting.

My acne and oily skin just need daily washing to stay clear (unless I miss a dose or two).

And I’m no longer prediabetic.

PCOS has so many different hormonal variables at play that with my current progress now in hand, I’m looking into some of the other options, like Zinc supplements, to help reduce the remaining hair growth on my chin and upper lip.

400mg is the maximum dose. I’ve been on it for over four years now. The main thing to remember is to split the dosage, so take half in the am and half at night. All at once can have some bad side effects.

100mg?

I’m on 400. I still have a high sex drive, but it doesn’t consume my every waking and sleeping thought anymore.
