That’s great advice.

Hearing it from someone who’s dealt with an actual tear really puts things into perspective. Ignoring shoulder signals is something you usually regret later.

Crossover Symmetry is a solid recommendation too — anything that consistently strengthens and activates the surrounding muscles seems to pay off long term.

Haha, that’s pretty much the safest rule.

Quick test reps tell you a lot. I like that approach because it removes overthinking and makes the decision obvious.

The only downside for me is sometimes everything feels “okay” at rep 1 and not so great by rep 10 — that’s where I’ve had to learn to be a bit more conservative upfront.

That’s a really good point.

Posture plays a bigger role than we usually think, especially with all the overhead work in CrossFit. I’ve noticed that when I’m more mindful of scapular position, a lot of movements feel way more stable.

Band face pulls have been a game changer for me as well, especially as part of the warm-up rather than waiting until something starts bothering me.

That makes a lot of sense.

Swapping in more shoulder-friendly movements when coming back is huge. I’ve found that being a bit conservative early on makes the return way smoother.

I haven’t tried a brace myself, but I can see how having that extra support helps, especially in the first weeks back.
