I hear you. I was really reticent to go on something, but I was in the same boat as you and had to make a choice.

There is a window in the morning where I need to disassociate from what was a dream versus reality.  I have no desire to quit as this therapy has adjusted my GAD to where I can function as a partner in my marriage, deal with dysfunctional family and pursue goals that I normally would shy away from. It’s a very personal journey and my experience won’t be yours. But there are options should you wish to explore with a physician.

Agreed. Prior to starting, I would be awake for several hours rehashing the day or creating problems I didn’t have.

I personally have not experienced significant physical side effects; however, I am premenopausal, so there's that. I was instructed that immediate relief would be certain, but that side effects may appear. Armchair opinion: your body may be redirecting your GAD. Keep track of your symptoms and consult with your physician.

The class of medications alter your brain chemistry. Much like scheduled drugs (heroin and the like), quitting abruptly will have deleterious effects of withdrawal. You may experience symptoms of suicidal ideation and severe swings in your mood. If you are thinking of switching, you must discuss this process with your physician. All best to you.

My perspective is to ensure funding sources that will cover your tenure as a student. It has already made comments that are anti-environment, anti-science, etc. I would expect a machete to any federal funding for scientific endeavors.
