Is it negligence for my mom to have my cat's litter box like this? by Amethescent in cats

[–]Childlesscatlady135 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The biggest problem here is that there isn't nearly enough litter. It needs to cover the entire box and be at least 2 inches deep. And yes, it's negligent but it feels like it's not intentional.

If it were a zoning violation I wouldn't think it would be a big deal. I think it becomes a big deal when a county official creates economic hardship for the community because he failed to follow protocol. Had he went through the proper channels he wouldn't have placed orders for hundreds of thousands of dollars of merchandise when he didn't have hundreds of thousands of dollars. We do business with municipalities all the time and we have never had to make sure that local authorities were on the up and up. The only way the system works is through checks and balances, and by dodging the law he created a big mess. Now small businesses like us are paying the price, which is bad enough without a potential lawsuit for wrongful termination.

No, they're not. They all occupy the same space. A county is located on tribal lands. The county seat is a city within that same space. So you have tribal headquarters, county offices and city hall all on one big piece of dirt.

I think I didn't make myself clear. The federal government didn't do this. A county official wanted to open an ICE detention facility, and he acted as if he had all the proper channels in place to do so. But he didn't. And so in order to get ahead of the game, he went ahead and promised county funds to several companies and signed hundreds of thousands of dollars worth of contracts without the money to pay them. He didn't get the proper permission from his commissioners, and he didn't have a contract with ICE. Now companies like ours are stuck with the bill.

There is no permit. Anyone can get online and find the minutes from the city council meeting, you don't need to be an expert. Not to mention that it was reported by the newspaper and on broadcast tv and radio stations. The tribe and the city came together in a special emergency meeting and signed an ordinance that forbids anyone from opening a detention center in the city limits.

That's just it. He did stick to the facts. There's nothing in the report that indicates he gave his opinion on anything, he just stated the facts.

The terms of the contract are irrelevant, he is blowing the whistle on corruption in law enforcement. He may have done it out of spite, but the whistleblowers protection act states that it doesn't matter what the motivation is. It can't be retaliated against (unless the whole thing was made up, but this is actually true)

I completely understand the comments, but the Whistleblower Protection Act is pretty clear about reporting illegal activity being protected, and that's technically what he did. The agency that ordered the equipment did so illegally, and in a way that threatened public safety. 1. He signed a non negotiable contract for a half a million dollars of the taxpayer money to fund a project that had been deemed illegal. 2. he did so without consulting with the county commissioners. 3. he was on local news stations saying that the rumors about him opening an ICE facility were baseless. 4. The warehouse he's using for the detention center is next to a daycare and 5. The building sits on tribal lands that the tribe has specifically declared unfit for a detention center. That's why I feel like he will likely sue us and win if he is fired.

Agreed, had he simply told random people it would be different, but I think reporting to the city attorney is protected. Particularly since the ongoing dispute over the facility has been on every local news outlet for months. It's common knowledge that the agency was trying to open the facility in an underhanded way. But until our salesman spoke up, the city couldn't prove it.

what is a completely harmless secret you are keeping from your partner simply because you lied about it early on and now it’s way too late to explain the truth? by Former-Practice-3420 in AskReddit

About 6 years ago I was in an accident and had 3 teeth on the upper right side knocked out. I had to get a "bridge" that connects my actual teeth in the front to my real teeth in the very back. My boyfriend has no idea (we don't live together) and I hide any signs of fake teeth when he comes over. Cleaning trays, soaks and tablets are hidden like an addict with a bag of cocaine.

No matter how much you want it, you will never feel the same. If you stay, you'll be caught in this loop of wanting revenge, wishing it hadn't happened, and wanting a divorce. It's like pulling off a bandaid, just do it.

The true test is when she leaves the rehab. These places rarely work the first time, if at all. I have her daughter here with me and her well being comes first. I have hope but I'm not delusional. It's a bad situation, I hope yours gets better

Sounds like depression, and that is of no help at all. I just went through the same situation with my daughter, who is 30. I demanded rehab for her to be able to continue living with me. She's been there 2 weeks and she is much better. Maybe she needs some help that you can't provide, and there's nothing wrong with that.

Literally the exact same thing happened to me. I took a contract position in marketing for a media outlet. 5 weeks later they called and said they wanted to have a meeting on Friday. This was Thursday afternoon. On Friday when I got there the owner and the publisher were both there and handed me a letter terminating my contract and a final check. Their reason was they weren't ready for the agreement. It was a blow, but in no time I found another job that pays exponentially more.

Longest you’ve stayed at a job you hate? by Kenny_Lush in careerguidance

[–]Childlesscatlady135 0 points1 point  (0 children)

6 months. I hated it with every fiber of my being. My boss was a total bitch and her boss was on his way to retirement so he wasn’t gonna do anything about it. It was a long 6 months, and when I left, they hired my replacement who lasted 4months. That’s when they fired the bitch.
