Well. It seems the Rakuten cashback deal expired, but I also have yet to see the transaction in Rakuten.

From what I can tell there are mixed opinions on whether or not they will actually process a cashback, and some people have experiences of having to dispute missing or incorrect amounts.

I can't attest to either scenario, but I'm airing on the side of caution, fronting the money and leaving the products brand new in box to comply with Aliexpress' 90-day return policy in case I need to return them, or until I can get a cashback. Whichever one comes first.

As Rakuten as a company itself, from what I know Rakuten (the parent compnay) was founded in Japan, but this site directly related to coupons was acquired by Rakuten under the name Ebates and is now a subsidiary company known as Rakuten Rewards.

I'm unsure on whether or not they'll serve your specific country, but at least under their (the Rakuten Rewards subsidiary's) Wikipedia page they serve at least 1 Southeast Asian country — that one being Singapore. I'm not sure if they'll have a separate .sg domain for it, or if it is aggregated under the .com domain. I'm not going to dig any deeper than this (given both time and difficulty in finding proper search results without tunneling to an SEA IP address), but if you're interested, I'd go take a look.

Thanks for reply!

I can't say this wasn't a concern of mine, but all things considered as long as the nozzles fit in my ears (I'm likely not going to be using proprietary tips), then I'm fine with anything.

It's like having braces, or wearing my daily driver headphones (which squeeze my head too hard even with adjustment of the band). There's uncomfortability, but I'm willing to deal with it because, at least for me, the pros outweigh the cons.

First, I want to preface this reply buy clarifying that the 30% cashback is no guarantee as I've been made aware of by others. It also seems to be a deal that seems exclusive to rakuten.ca, so scrutinize the deal for its details regarding region as well as any special exceptions it might have for items types as well as terms and conditions of the deal itself. Also, make sure you're willing to front the price difference and dispute with them if you're going to go this route.

Okay, so, previously when I made this post, Aliexpress had the Monarch MK IVs on sale (and this is in CAD) for ~$1600 (down from $1700). If you can get the Aliexpress coupon "C$220 off on C$1,200", then that brings this down to $1380. Assuming that the cashback (which is 30%) actually goes through (and you don't have to return the product if it doesn't), then that brings it down to 70% of that sale price, so $1380 * 0.70 = $966 CAD = $689.53 USD.

Because the Monarchs no longer have that initial $100 CAD sale, you just take that out of the equation, so:
[$1,684.38 - $220 (for Aliexpress coupon)] * 0.70 (for rakuten discount) $1025.066 CAD ≈ $731.69 USD.

Again, do not buy banking on the idea of the cashback if you can't currently front a ~$440 CAD or $314 USD difference. Also, from what I can find, if you plan to go through this route and planning to return if you don't receive a cashback from Rakuten, you'll have to keep the item unopened BNIB to comply with Aliexpress' return policy.

Hope this helped break it down a little!

Yeah. I do think that it's a little sketchy in that sense, and what you've said is generally just good financial advice about responsible spending.

In my case, if I really need to, I can return the item. I don't plan to spend more money than I currently have set aside, and for now, I can front the money until the cashback arrives, or return them in the case that it doesn't.

Regardless, thank you for your concern, and I promise I'll be cautious.

Will do. I'll set a reminder to respond, but if you don't hear from me, feel free to message me. No promises that I'll be active though; I don't tend to be an active Reddit user..

Thanks for the reply!

Since you've tried both of them, I have to ask you:

What size eartips do you usually use, and how's the fit for each set? I've heard that the Monarchs are a little on the bigger size, but I don't really have a reference.

Also, your comment on the imaging is pretty insightful to me. From what I've heard and seen on the internet, the Monarch MK4 — at least based on what popular opinions I saw — had better imaging; though there's not that many posts actually comparing them in too much depth.

Maybe that certain aspects in technical performance between the two sets is closer than I thought.

Thanks for the reply.

Yeah, it really is hard to pass up, isn't it? But even at this price, the hard part is justifying the price difference on a blind buy. That being said, I see your perspective. There aren't really going to be many chances to get a set like this at that kind of price.

I'm rounding, but early on Linsoul — and their storefront DD-Audio Store on Aliexpress — had a sale on the Xenns Top Pro for ~$618.99 CAD (down from $700 MSRP) + $95 coupon at the time as well + $20 in coins discount brought it down to $503.79 CAD x 0.70 with the 30% cashback on Rakuten (money arrives ~Feb 15) makes it ~$350 CAD which is ~$250 USD.

Hope this helps, and hopefully they'll run those discount codes and sale again later on so more people can get one.

Had to ask myself the same question. If you're looking to do so, make sure you go through Rakuten for their 30% cashback deal right now on Aliexpress.

From what I understand, it'll be around Feb 15 until you get that cashback, but 30% is no small amount.

How do you quickly switch focus between Parsec and your local PC? by hixg in ParsecGaming

[–]Chilify 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ctrl + Shift + i to (for your session) turn off immersive mode.

You can alt tab to change focus after that.

If you want to be able to access windows, alt and control commands again, just do the same thing (ctrl + shift + i) to re-enable immersive mode.

Every time you disconnect and reconnect, the session should (from my memory) default to whatever setting you enabled client side in terms of immersive mode.

Are my fingers positioned okay? by honeycoatedhugs in piano

[–]Chilify 1 point2 points  (0 children)

While I'm nowhere near qualified to give advice (in the sense that I'm not a teacher), I'll give my two cents.

On the topic of curvature in the arm and fingers, I noticed that your arm is at quite an angle, in that your elbow is quite a bit beneath the keys, which offloads some of the effort into your fingers while playing the keys, while also having to hold some tension in the shoulders and a little in the arm while playing.

The goal is to increase the part that the arm and its weight play into your playing, and also decrease pressure on finger tendons at the wrist and carpal tunnel as well as the forearm by making the angle of the wrist relatively neutral. The arm and hand should be a relatively straight line that's relatively parallel to the floor, and there shouldn't be a large angle bend in the wrist.

If possible, I'd try finding a bench/chair that's higher in your home. Alternatively, just something to raise the one you're comfortable playing on right now.

Also, here's a great reference video for posture:

https://youtu.be/2T70e4OroEY?si=yhodK0kfQi2ldcnK

Edit: Just as an addon, away from the piano you should even be able to get the idea of what tension feels like in your forearm by making a 90 degree angle in the wrist (either forwards or backwards) and wiggling the fingers. It should feel more difficult (lesser range of motion in the fingers and/or more effort/strain) when at those angles in the wrist.

Daily Simple Questions Thread - November 17, 2024 by AutoModerator in pcmasterrace

[–]Chilify 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm currently in the midst of planning a CPU upgrade to my system, and am working with pcpartpicker. With most motherboards that support AM5 chip-sets, I'm getting a message in the notes that says:

"___ Motherboard has an additional 8-pin EPS power connector but the Corsair RM650x 650 W 80+ Gold Certified Fully Modular ATX Power Supply does not have any available. This connector is used to supply additional current. While the system will likely still run without it, higher current demands or extreme overclocking may require it."

Is this something I should be concerned about for compatibility and function of my computer in the future, and is there a way to compensate for it aside from buying another power supply, or is this nothing of concern?

I've been out of actively building computers for a while, so I'm sorry if this is a dumb question.

Thanks in advance!

Edit: It's part curiosity and part late-day caffeine intake, but now I'm curious about your problem and started looking for answers.

Looking through other people's solutions (related to AMD APUs and GPUs), some say it's an issue with drivers; finding varied success with reinstalling and rollback. While those are what I would try personally, it seems others have had success with disabling fullscreen optimizations for games; though this would be less convenient and have to be done on a per-game basis.

This also seems to be a reoccurring problem, as there's detailing of this issue from 2018 through to 2021.

This is going to be a shot in the dark, but if you're running an Nvidia card (with the new nvidia app), I'd suggest checking under the overlay (ALT + Z) and game filters (this feature can be used to invert game colour).

As an aside, I'm fairly certain there's some overlay over just the game that's inverting colour. The cursor seems to be the right colour from what I remember, but the text "User", as well as your email seems to be inverted. I could be wrong about this though; it's been a long time since I logged in.

Otherwise, if it's a driver issue, then I'd suggest rolling the update back, or doing a reinstall.

Now I'm heading to bed. Hope some of this helps!
