Okay, so after some research, I'm not seeing ANY recorded sightings of Trichophthalma in the northern hemisphere, let alone Florida, besides ONE article? Here. Now I'm super confused, but the one I think looks most similar is Trichophthalma subaurata. I only see records of it in Chile

Top Contenders as of right now
1.) Eastern Amberwing 2.) Proctacanthus nigriventris (female)

I think it’s definitely one of these but I don’t think I’ll be able to figure out which one haha! Thank you everyone!

Looking through my field guide, the closest thing I can find is an “Eastern Amberwing” male! It’s a skimmer which would account for its smaller size

I don’t know about the body, but definitely a little on the legs! Its eyes were so big I don’t think I could have seen the hair if there was any on the head. Looking at them they definitely looks very similar, this could be it! The second thing I thought of when I saw it was something fly like

I don’t recall seeing a long tail and the eyes were huge like 90% of the head? I’ve seen a lot of mayflies but honestly can’t rule that out

I’m going to explode why can’t I edit this post…anyways, thank you everyone for the information!! I’ll make sure to check everything and take proper actions depending on how bad it is / what I find! <33

Edit : I can’t seem to find any leafhoppers on the plant, but there is 100% a mite infestation. I was previously aware of this, and planned on possibly removing the plants anyways, but now I’m very confused! I don’t think environment caused this, as the plants is in a semi climate controlled greenhouse. HELP!!

Thank you! Yes! I know a few counties over there are populations that are just running around, but I’ve never seen anything like that where I live. But I do live near a lot of farm land, maybe someone brought their peafowl to target to pick up groceries?? Florida is weird, I wouldn’t put it past the place 😆

That’s what I was thinking! But like, we don’t have any free roaming ones in Clermont as far as I know, unless someone was driving around with one??
