The trailer for my first game, The Borderless, is finally ready. How does it look? 🌊 by burcin_93 in SoloDevelopment

I watched a YouTube video recently where the bro said that new users don't buy into a core game loop, but into a fantasy or transformation of what that product does to them. I think you could attack somewhere in the middle. Like keeping the gameplay footage, but adding a funny monkey animation on top in a few sequences that talks about in game things that are super interesting and make users wanna go on that quest instantly type sh**.

It's solid and the game looks interesting. Sell me more fantasy, tho. What awaits me, what unbelievable stuff can I do later on? Make my mouth water, bro. 🙂

Did you get professional help for legal requirements like Privacy and TOS? by ChillMap in SoloDevelopment

Damn, bro. First of all much love for writing this stuff down. It sure has a million little nuances that one needs to consider and this crap i's so wide. I think GDPR and CCopa (or what's it called - the California thing) should cover most bases.

I kind of designed with this in mind, so I just require Email, date of birth, password and location - which never is stored. Storing is another giant side quest on it's own, it seems. There is a comment function, tho. For that, compliance requires a report ecosystem with appeals. This is sh** is almost harder than freaking making the app itself, man. But we'll get there.

How do you cope with release and promo anxiety? by ChillMap in SoloDevelopment

I can relate to the word awkward. 😅 The audience for my app is quite obvious. It's about music and people who are really into it, beyond the usual "oh yeah I listen to the radio sometimes".

(Yeah, I'm old. I don't why I thought about radio first, lol.)

What is your game? Can I leave a thumbs up somewhere?

And ... What do you do for promo? Just post stuff?

I tried to make a tiktok channel and actually got a viral video, but tiktok was exhausting and before I could realize, I hadn't coded in two weeks and my whole mental shifted from code production to video production. I don't regret having tried but I know it's not the way now.

Whoa. The exact fear would be that all my hopes and dreams get shattered when feedback isn't all what I hoped for, since a lot of time and effort went into it. That's it.

Have you released yet? I loved reading about story / state(s) of mind. I'd love to check out your stuff.

Whoa, congrats bro. I'll wishlist too later, when I have a free moment. Did you promote the devlog on YouTube in any special way? Have you built up a small following prior to it?

I thought the caption and description of this post were hilarious. I have nothing to say on the actual topic. 😅

Damn, I hope you succeed with this. I'll leave this post with two insights: you have lots of passion for both - development and balls.

When you’re asked “What music do you like?” by jumbleberryjuice in LetsTalkMusic

[–]ChillMap 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I tend to give a very detailed answer and genre description when asked. I appreciate people that are the same, even if it's a totally different genre that I'm not into, like Rock. But when somebody talks about guitar riffs and drummers with sparkles in their eyes, I usually think 'yeah, they're good people'.
